Can you tell us how you lubed them? I only managed to make a Weilong v2 somewhat fast and I don't have the slightest idea what I did different. Well, my Huanying is also quite fast but that's because it has almost no contact surface that the lube can stick to :)

How can you not make a weilong fast? Lube core with weight 5, and really, no matter what lube you use on the pieces it's still insanely fast

I do it more or less the same. I also lube the screw where it enters the core and make the core turn several times while I slowly let go of the two opposite center pieces. And some cubes end up slower than others. I have always assumed it is because I tend to put too much lube but it removing part of it does not work I don't really know what the issue can be. I am lucky that I don't particularly like my cubes too fast because I'm slow and inaccurate but it's annoying to not be able to get the feeling I really want. I really think it also depends on the lubing of the pieces, some cubes have more contact surface than others between pieces but, even in that case. I lubed my 57mm Weilong with wt5 (core) and wt2 (pieces) and it ended up quite fast and later I lubed my 54.5mm mini Weilong more or less the same way and it is now a bit slow.

Sorry I am not able to help much. My only advice is, if you don't mind the spring noise and lubing the core makes your cubes too slow... don't lube the core.

I love fast and uncontrollable cubes :P. I use traxxus 30k on my hualong, a crazy speed combination, and I find it a good speed for me. And to Iggy, I used to lube my core on my Aolong but when I got my hualong I stopped and only put a small amount on the pieces. It works well

Hmm okay, I'll try to only lube the pieces of the next 3x3 I lube. Thanks guys

lube questions

So I was looking at different lubes the other day then I realised that is it the same to use a little heavy lube on the pieces rather than a lot of light lube to speed up the cube? I personally use weight 5 (core) and weight 2 (pieces) from the cubicle.us but then I thought can I use just a little of weight 5 just a little on the pieces and would it be the same as a moderate amount of weight 2? Also how do u mix maru lube with other lubes and what is the benefit of doing that?

I really need to know so feedback will be awesome thanks!:o

You can use a heavy lube on the pieces, so put just a line of lube on an edge piece, put it in the cube, then lube a little of the corner near the stock. After you break the heavy lube in, add some maru by just stretching the cube a little. The heavy will make it smooth, and the maru sitting on top of the heavy will make it fast.

Yes, you're right: my Aolong is pretty new and I've been using my Weilong for a long time. But even when I clean off the residue, that black oil appears after lubing it with Wt 5, so what should I do?

A question.

Is it really worth disassembling your cube to lube the springs and washers compared to just applying lube to the pieces?
Does the speed increase justify the much larger expense in time and effort?

What are your thoughts on this issue?

-In my experience, as a main lubing method, complete disassembly does not provide enough speed increase to be used as a primary lubing method. What I prefer to do is apply lube to the pieces whenever they need it and disassemble for lubing every couple of months or again, if my cube needs it.

Um,yeah. It is worth it because you get to also clean out your cube and look at the screws and get a faster cube.

Also, I just bought silicone spray and what is the best way to use it. I tried it on a guanlong and since I didn't wipe off the drops of silicone, it became blocky. But, if I wipe off the spray, it feels dry. Please help.

Definitely worth it. Most of the friction is due to the core, and it increases cube life significantly, or else the metal will just slowly rub away the plastic in the core. ^Yup it doesnt speed up the cube but it does make it feel much better.

Silicone spray: If it feels gummy then spray less on it.

Weight 5 can last a very long time in the core, 10000 solves or so.

Yay thats good news cos I lubed my cube with weight 5 and ive done 2-3000 solves on it.
But the one I really need to know is the weight 2 in the pieces

The only thing I can think of is washing the center pieces (the ones that suffer more friction with washer and screw / spring) with water and soap, rinse them and then reapply the lube, but don't put too much lube as it will make the cube sticky. If that does not eliminate the "black oil" problem I don't know what can.

That depends on how much you put and the specific cube you lubed but you should feel the difference and know when you need to apply a bit more. It should last for a month or two at least but, as I said, it depends on a lot of factors.

So I have never actually owned or bought lube (I have always borrowed from people) and now I finally decided that I want to buy some. I settled on traxxas 50k. But I still can't decide on how much to buy. At first, I was pretty set on buying 10cc from the cubicle because it was in the middle, but then I found that amazon sold 50cc! So I started wondering whether 10cc is enough.

I know that the cubicle has rough estimates but I would still like to hear how much the different amounts last for you guys. Note that I probably won't use the lube that often (maybe once every two months, depending on whether I get new cubes). Also, if I were to buy from amazon, how long do they take and are they reliable?

50ccs will last you year(s). I have a 10cc syringe of weight 5 (pretty much Traxxas 50k) for about a year now and it hasn't run out. Thick lubes last a long time.
Not sure the second question.

The black oil is cube dust. It happens when the plastic of your cube gets worn down. You can't really get rid of it permanently, so just accept it.
