Please excuse my ignorance, as I couldn't find it on the wiki, but what is 3style (/where can I find out), and how does it differ to BH?

A lot of people use the terms interchangeably, but technically BH means you have a fixed buffer and use commutators, while 3-style means you do whatever you want (using 3-cycles).

So, you switch buffers in 3style (at new cycles, or whatever. That's not really what I got from my search after A Leman's post)? How would memo for that work? (Anything special?)

Derp, my bad. Funny I look at the wiki and forget to simply search the forum itself. Thanks, though. Both for the reminder and the information.

Riffz, could you please provide your lists of algs for edges? I have a couple of weird cases and want to learn good algs.

I'm actually just getting back into cubing after a ~6 month break. I have improved my alg lists for both corners and edges but it's all handwritten on paper so I'm in the process of entering the changes into excel and then I'll make a post with the updated list. Can't make any promises as to when that will be though.

X Total|Memo|Edges|Corners
1 55.60 |16.57|20.11|18.93
2 55.57 |14.87|24.45|16.26
3 53.92 |19.28|21.83|12.82
4 55.82 |15.36|26.55|13.91
5 48.79 |15.93|18.30|14.57
a 53.94 |16.40|22.25|15.30

These are the splits for my last five sub-1 successes. They were spread over about 10 solves. I've been working on edges a lot recently. I know it's a small sample (I hate doing splits), but which is worse, corners or edges?

How long would it take to memorize all the 3 style algs for corners? I want to know if thats better than making up the commutators on the spot+using turbo.

I used to use commutators on the spot+turbo :D
There's not one set of 3 style commutators. There not learned like PLL algs. You don't have to "memorize" them, because they're commutator for the most part. Go ahead and borrow some commutators from a 3style list but it's not going to have a significant effect on your speed until you average well under a minute.

So I just identified my edges->corners transition as the main problem with my execution. I tend to lose all of my steam when I hit corners. I did some timing of corners only execution and it was always between 10 and 13 seconds. In solves however, from the moment I finish edges (about 35 seconds into the solve) it is often almost 20 seconds before the solve is complete. I'm wondering if people who solve corners first have the same transition problem that I do. I'm not open to changing my order, but I think that the fact that corner comms are slightly harder might make edges first difficult. Of course, now that I've identified the problem it hopefully won't be hard to fix with a little bit more thinkahead and a few less pauses. Just wondering if corners first people experience the same difficulty or not.

No, I think about my first edge cycle memo during my last corner cycle execution. they transition nicely. In my memo, however, I have a noticable(which means terrible) pause between edges and corners. I always seem to pause. I don't know why but I should really work on that.

So your pause is a matter of planning through your edge cycle like speedsolving lookahead, but my memo is going to need an overhaul to get some of the bugs out.

I think you can apply the same kind of "lookahead" to memo. While you are reviewing your edge memo, you can start finding your first few corners. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem.

Yes, I guess you're right. I'm at a weird stage where I am always fighting to have sub-20 memo, but feel like I need a break for things to stick and not overlap.

Also, something I forgot to mention earlier that I have seen in your videos is a long pause at very end that looks like this:
Pause...R...slaps the timer.

You would have better idea about how to fix that than me. This is purely constructive criticism since you're a really good BLD solver that has alot of potential.
