Within how many time do you relube your cube?
How do I tell if a cube is overlubed?
My Lunhui feels gummy. It takes much force to start a turn but the actual turning is smooth. Is it overlubed?
Gummy means its overlubed or its lubed with a lubricant that has too high viscosity. You can just work the cube and eventually it'll start to feel better. If you have plenty of lube you can just take one edgepiece out, clean it thoroughly with a paper towel and pop it back in. Work in the lube. Repeat if necessary until the cube feels like you want it to.How do I tell if a cube is overlubed?

Hi, I'm currently finding lubes to lube a Zhanchi, Weilong, a Wittwo v1, and probably a Moyu Weisu and ShengShou 5x5. I'm looking at Thecubicle.us Assorted Silicone Lube. Should I get weight 4 or weight 5? Can one "weight" suit all of these cubes? After I run out of Thecubicle.us lube I also plan to get Traxxas, but I'm not sure whether to get 30k or 50k then. These lubes are for lubing the cores only. I'm already using maru lube for the pieces. Thanks.
bump
For the core the best option would be wt 5 ( = 50k traxxas) for all those puzzles. I dont really recommend using Maru as your main lube for the pieces because it wears out overnight or after max 50 solves (less with a bigger cube, with a 5x5 it's like 15-20 solves max).
My personal suggestion is to forget assorted silicone lube from thecubicle because it is just regular pure silicone oil in a syringe (wt 3 = 30k, wt 5= 50k, wt 4 = 40k aka a mix of 45% 50k and 55% 30k by my estimate). I would buy a set of 10k 30k and 50k traxxas diff oil from ebay (enter "Traxxas 10k 30k 50k" in search bar at ebay). Then i'd buy several (min 3) syringes with dispensing tips from thecubicle.us and mix lubes to fit my preferences. Mixing lubes happens so that you just open the syringe (by pulling out the cylinder from the back), pour in the amounts of lube desired, mix them with a stick, close the syringe and let it set for a couple of hours.
One syringe could be filled with 50k = For lubing the core of pretty much every puzzle there is.
One syringe filled with a 1:1 ratio of 10k and 30k to lube 4x4+ puzzles on the pieces
One syringe filled with 30k and 50k (1:1 ratio) for 3x3 and 2x2 puzzles to be used on the pieces.
With 10k 30k and 50k you can make any lubricant from weight 10k to 50k with the right mixture. Basically anything between wt 1 (=10k) and wt 5 (=50k).
Thanks a lot!Actually the main reason why I wanted to get Thecubicle.us assorted lube was because I wanted the syringes with dispensing tip. I saw that the lube just costs a dollar more, so might as well fill it with lube than leave the syringe empty. I plan on getting a Traxxas 50k and then replace the cubicle.us lube with it. Thecubicle.us is the only place which sells syringes, that's why I choose to buy it there (rather than buy from lubix just for the syringes). If given a choice, I would buy from other places with cheaper shipping (I do not live in the US) because shipping alone is US$6.16 for an empty syringe and dispensing tip to me, but I simply cannot find another place which sells individual syringes with dispensing tips (with cheap shipping of course). May I know what size of syringes did you get? Which generally requires more lube, lubing the core or lubing the pieces?
Can I use Aerol Silicone Spray to lube the core of a ZhanChi?
Any tutorials on how to do it?
Higher the weight, higher the viscosity/thickness/resistance in the fluidcan someone explain to me what the term "weight" means? and what is the difference between traxxas 10k 30k and 50k. is the "k" the weight? o.o Thanks
Hi, I've finally decided to return to speedcubing after a year of hiatus. I've been out of the picture for a while, and I was wondering, what's the best lube nowadays? So far the last time I've checked is that diff. oil is the most popular one. What about now? Is differential oil still the top choice?
