i think you should focus on memo right now. there is a german guy who does 1:30-2:00 old pochmann solves.
I would start learning M2 when memo takes as much time as your execution. :)

My problem is that I just have a very VERY crap memory :)

That's all well and good, but I'm trying to understand why you think using colors is better? Letter pairs provide you with just as good images, but you only have to memorize half as many. Seems like that would be better for someone with a crap memory.

You don't have crap memory, you just don't have mastered it enough. As someone else wrote, if you can remember your name you can solve a cube blindfolded. Just try to find words that suit you and try to put them into context, it really helped me a lot to add a physical place to the memo.

I'm almost finished learning all of the 3-style cycles for corners. What do I do next if I want to get sub-1?

Method(in the order that I execute it):
Corner Memo:Images
Edge Memo: Audio
Edge Execution: M2 with some advanced M2 three cycles)
Corner Execution: 3-Style (let's assume I've finished learning it)

Try to solve edges and corners, wothout thinking at all. It should feel intuitively all the way.
You should be able to execute in 30 seconds then. All you need to do is get your memo under 30 seconds. And sometimes even a bit more is ok, because you will have some nice cases from time to time, so you execute even faster.

Good luck! Dennis

I used Stefan Pochmann's method and he said he used colours. Ok, I'll give letters another chance.

I'm currently trying to learn BLD with OP for corners and M2 for edges. I try to memorize in letterpairs and place the words on fixed routes (one for corners and one for edges) and have some questions too:

- Is there a simple way to recognize if all corners / edges were targetted?
- Is there a simpler way to flip one or multiple edges at a time than shooting to both stickers?
- Is it a bad idea to mix up letterpairs and 'only the letters'? Because for some letters, I need a (very) long time to find an appropriate word. For example a memo like this: HD, RC, QX, LF -> HardDisk, RemoteControll, QX, LöschFahrzeug (German word for a Firefighter Truck)
- Is it a bad idea to mix up languages in the memo, as seen in the previous example?

Thanks

I mix english and finnish in my memo all the time... my memo is roughly 20 seconds on average. Almost always between 15-25 seconds. So it's working quite well for me at least. I would say that if you speak english fluently then it won't be a problem. :)

1. No, you have to count the targets. One cycle with all the edges is 11 pices "long" because that last edge is solves automatically. What i do is using my fingers for counting all the edges, thats easier. And i always have a special order where to start a new cycle. So its easier to keep track of what you have to do next. Corners: You simply use your fingers. Put them on the corners that you solved and BAAAM, problem solved.
2. You can use a 2 edge flip. M'UM'UM'U2MUMUMU2. Execute that algorithm and you will see how you can use it properly.
3./4. Thats no problem at all. You just have to remember what you did. But for bigger BLD attempts, like MULTI BLD or BIG BLD, i wouldnt recommand using a QX in your memo, without using any image for it. If you cant make up an image with the letters, then try to "see" what it looks like. What does QX remember you of when you see it? I think it looks like a broken gender symbol for female. Google it if you dont know what i mean. (Venussymbol).

Greetings, Dennis

I know where my 5th location for edges is (10th letter), and I know that if a cycle end around there, I'm most likely done with edged unless there is very many cycles or no solved/flipped edges.

I like to put the flipped edge to UF with setup moves and then do the alg (x) M U M U M U2 M' U M U' M U2 (x')

Thanks for that. I know what you mean and I will never forget it :)
Maybe I mix it up with OX, but I think for OX Ox (Ochse) is better.

QX for me are pills called Q-10
There was a lot of advertising for them when I was younger so it makes a very strong image for me.

OX for me is Ox or OXO, a brand of boullion. I imagine a bottle of it or people drinking or messing* with it.

* makes your stories vivid :)

This must have been answered a billion times, but I'm really interested in 3BLD, so which method would be the fastest/most efficient? Or which method should I learn(first)?

Fastest/most efficient: 3style/BH/commutators (whatever you want to call it)

For the first method I would recommend M2 for edges and old pochman for corners :)

Just search from speedsolving or youtube for tutorials...
