Trying a 4x4 Center BLD attempt today, so I'm memo-ing right now during school. ;P
How do I keep track of which centers I've already shot to? I think I just have four left, but is there an easier way than going through my memo and putting a finger on a sticker and doing this until I've covered a side, then going on to the next side?

Just remember. It shouldn't be too difficult if you have a good preorientation. You'll most likely know if you've missed a spot. You can also check to see if all the letters are in you memo.

Okay, and also, how do you keep track of which U buffer you are using when you're using Comms? I start with Ulb buffer, but once that gets solved, I go to Urb, then Urf, the Ulf. How do I know when I switched? (during execution)

I personally use a room for centers and I have a locus for each U-layer buffer.

These are the 36 comms I've mostly found or occasionally looked up. I already have the first 18 memorized with the letter pair. The second column, though, the one that's FRD. Does anyone have any suggestions for algs over those 18? http://tinyurl.com/jc3cycles

I haven't looked at all, but most of them look very nice and fast.
But I would do ULB-RDF-DLF: y x [R' U2 R, D2] x' y' (same alg but different execution)

I could not get your roation setup for kf to work. For your kf, I would have used a U'x setup into R'U2R'D'RU2R'DR2

For po and pm(the [FL2F',R'] type ones), I would find it faster to set up to nikolas like R2'U'L'URU'LUR

For PW, xR2UR2UL2U'R2UL2U2R2x'

Overall they are good algs, but not very usefull for me because i use the URB buffer.

Sure this has been covered over and over, but i am having big problems during my memo with knowing when my edges are complete, and what spaces are free to use when breaking into a new cycle. I have read that it will come in time, and i am happy with that, but does anyone have any tips. Old Pochman btw.

At first it helped me to go through and put fingers on all the pieces in the memo. Then I could see which ones were not solved. You can also use this trick:

# of unsolved edges = # of targets + 1 - # of cycle breaks.

So if you have 11 unsolved edges, 11 targets and one cycle break you've covered all the edges. If you have 10 unsolved edges, 8 targets and a cycle break, you haven't gotten all the edges. A flipped edge counts as a solved one btw. The same trick works for corners.

Once you get better you'll just know what edge you haven't shot to.

The way I do this is i have a primary and secondary target that I always break my cycles into.I take notice during my memo if i already shot to the primary target(or if it is already solved) and go to the secondary target. In the rare case where they are both solved and you are stuck, there are 2 things to do:review your cycle to find an empty target,or solve the last isolated cycle without breaking into it(I don't think this works with OP).With practice, you get better at knowing what is already solved.Another trick is to put your fingers on the solved pieces, but I suggest you don't do that.

I know that equation, but it just really isn't so easy to do during memo! The idea of putting fingers on them might well be worth a shot, cheers. Good job i have 12 fingers.

Cheers, i usually shoot to YG, as its obviously the easiest, and as a back up i use YO, but as luck has it, most of the times they are solved.

I actually do that for corners since certain targets have much easier comms, but for edges since I still use M2 for the most part I shoot to a sticker where the next target will be one of the easy ones (UB, UF or DB).

I'm asking people who have already been in my situation : When you were in the process of learning corner comms (all 378 of them!), did you still actually practice BLD during that time? If yes, did you use the comms you already knew during your solves?
