Hi,
I am often stuck on PLL, the yellow face is complete but I have to solve PLL. Despite these two websites:
http://algdb.net/Set/OLL
http://algdb.net/Set/PLL
I often end up with a case where I dont know wich algorithm from the PLL I should use. I turn the top layer and for instance I see that 2 green corners are correctly positioned and the rest of the edges and corners not.
But when I turn the top layer further I can position the blue and red edges correct but then the green corners are for instance on the orange face. I can put the green corners back to the green face but then the blue and red edges are not at their correct colour face. How do I solve PLL?

This sounds like an A perm to me. Holding the two green stickers on the back face;
Lw' U R' D2 R U' R' D2 R2.

If two edges are still swapped after this, you may have PLL parity. This only occurs on even cubes (e.g. 4x4). If this is 4x4, then you can swap two edges with:
Uw2 Rw2 U2 R2 Rw2 U2 Rw2 Uw2.
If this is on 3x3, then you have an impossible case. Disassemble your cube and reassemble it solved; your cube should now be solvable no matter how you scramble it.

What the heck is PLL clarity? How does disassembling solve this? When I am stuck on the PLL I sometimes perform some random pll algoritms till I get a clear case. But how can you prevent PLL clarity on 3x3 cubes? I only have 3x3x3 cubes

PLL parity is something which happens on even-layered cubes (4x4, 6x6 etc.) and a few other puzzles like Square-1. This shouldn't ever happen on 3x3, so don't worry about it for now. The basic idea is that two pieces are swapped that shouldn't be, but you don't need to know about solving it on 3x3 since... you can't.

If you perform random PLL algorithms and end up with a case that's on the list, then your original case must also have been on the list of PLLs. Are you sure you checked the list carefully? Remember that sometimes, you can swap the colours around, as long as any pairs of colours stay the same; for example, these two would be the same case (a T perm):

and

You can see that although some colours have been swapped around, groups of colours have stayed in the same place, meaning that the case is still the same case.

Does that make a bit more sense?

What method are using? I've never here of Pll clarity. I'm assuming you mean parity? If so I've never herd Pll parity on a 3x3. Can you explain the steps you use to complete you LL?

Yes especially the part of groups of coulours helps me

I was wondering, I have a Dayan v zhanchi but on a site I also saw
a Dayan Guhong v2? What are the differences between these 2 Dayan cubes?
I am also thinking of maybe getting a Moyu Weilong, do you think the Moyu is better than the Dayan? And what are the differences between Moyu Weilong and Moyu Aolong v2?

The guhong is Dayan's 3x3 before the Zhanchi, it doesn't have torpedoes so it might pop more, but it's still a pretty good cube [emoji14] q

The Guhong v2 does have torpedoes. The v1 doesn't. These cubes were good in their day and a few people still prefer them, but generally they have been surpassed by more modern cubes. As a novice you're better spending your money on those.

Hi,
I am trying to learn full PLL.
Only problem is I cant recognise quickly what case I have. Does anyone have tips to recognize quickly what case I have? Every case has a letter, like A or V, does this have to do with the color groups?

Is there a algorithm that does this as shown in the picture (i.e. rotating 3 edge pieces adjacent to a corner)?

Also a more general question would be how to shorten a list of move to achieve the same result. Anyone has a guide on that?

COLL = corner orientation last layer

What does CMLL stand for?
CMLL doesn't really stand for anything. It's CLL, ignoring the M slice - that's where the M part comes from. I don't know why it was put in the same place as the O in COLL.

what is a good smartphone cubing timer? Specifically, one that feels like CStimer. I think I saw some popular speedcubing YouTubers using it but I can't find the videos.
PlusTimer is the only good mobile timer I've used, and it's great. I don't watch YouTubers so I don't know what they use.

How much practice does it take to get sub 10 seconds on a 3x3x3 cube? Is this just raw talent or just loads of practice?

loads of practice. Some people who improved insanely fast have gotten sub-10 in a year, but it takes most people closer to 3-5 years

I was going to say the same with a "but". It can take, as you say, from 1 year (if you practise a lot and have great talent) to 3-5 years... or more, or maybe you won't get to sub-10, ever. It all depends on talent and willingness to improve but also on age and other factors.

I am 45 and have been practising for 2 years. I'm around 19 seconds average and, to be honest, I don't think I'll ever get to sub-10 or even close. Sub-15 would be nice but I even doubt that.

Anyway, I love cubing and not being able to reach "world class" level is not gonna stop me from doing something I enjoy that much, so I'd recommend you do the same. Just cube as much as you want and see where that gets you.
