Are gloves/anything other than your hands that touch the cube legal in competition? A quick glance at the regulations didn't show anything about them, but my hands always get really sweaty and it becomes hard to make accurate turns especially with some of the OLL/PLL algorithms.

What aspect of my solve is preventing sub-20? I am a color-neutral CFOP solver with 2-look OLL (I know some 1-look algs though, just not many).

Ao5 #1: 25.512 (Includes first solves of the day)
Ao5 #2: 21.499
Ao5 #3: 21.760
Ao5 #4: 23.446 (Really crappy)
Ao5 #5: 21.829
Ao12 F2L (+Cross): 14.195
Ao12 LL: 7.760

I'm sub-20 with CFOP, and I've been thinking about learning another method (for the fun of it). Will doing so help me in any way (other than just knowing another way to solve 3x3)

ZZ! The ZZ method is very fun, and I average only 4 seconds off CFOP (my main method) with ZZ.

Learn full OLL. Just learning one or two a day isn't too many at all and you'll be done in a month. Your splits are ok but your LL is a bit slower than it should be; OLL will help that.

question about U perms,
I see fast people execute U perms, and they look really really cool. Does anyone know the exact execution of the U perm?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v_Km6cv6DU -5.66, this is where i kinda got my inspiration
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8AFTQUhzL0 -1:17 in the vid, he gets a 7.331
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAg6t6M1MZg -this u perm omg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-LaLgrpHAg -0:26, the 7.20
I know many of you can just say to get faster but im looking for smth more than that
thankss

richardye1, I personally prefer some <M,U> U-perms. Most people use an <R, U> U-perm. Here are my algs:
Ua - M2' Uw' M' Uw2' M' Uw' M2'
Ub - M2' U' M U2' M' U' M2'
I found the first one sub a sub-1 PLLs video, and I generated the second one. My biggest tip is to just practice. I know said you wanted more than that, so here's more: if you don't like the algs online, generate your own. Everyone has their own unique turning style specific to you. Thus, find an algorithm that fits you. For example, I solve the Z-perm mirrored (M2' U' M2' U' M' U2' etc) because it works much better for me. Just find something that works for YOU. Some of the algs that advanced people like Feliks Zemdegs or Chris Olson use don't work for me at all, and that's fine.

hey so I just learned full OLL and PLL (although I forget some algs sometimes), but now i want to learn more to help solve the cube in less moves. I am not exactly focused on being a "speed solver" because i have bad habits and i average around 50sec because i have terrible lookahead, cross and f2l. I cube because its fun and i want to know every algorithm and way to solve it eventually. I use Friedrich and I don't want to learn a different method right now, but I do want to learn ZBLL, 1LLL, winter variation, summer variation, VHLS, COLL and/or others that will help with Friedrich. Now Im not familiar with these subsets, so maybe they don't even apply to what I'm doing, but CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO START NEXT? thanks

It would really be a good idea to get at least sub 20. Do some ll scrambles on cstimer or something to solidify your OLL and PLL algs. A good next step might be COLL, try alg.db for them.

Which method is better: ZB or CFOP with OLS? I'm thinking about total number of algs, recog speed, execution speed, and overall performance of the method.

I'd say CFOP with OLS mainly because I don't like learning algs.

On the other hand you could do ZZ with WV or VHLS which I would prefer personally.

But that's just me. ;-P

I would probably be using ZZ-WV if my EOLine wasn't so embarrasingly bad. My ZZ F2L is better than my CFOP F2L, but it's the Cross vs. EOLine that makes CFOP faster.

Probably been asked before (I tried searching, but got no results), but what is generally reccomended to be learned first; full OLL, or full PLL?

I probably won't try learning either until I can get sub-30 averages, but I like planning ahead for the future.

Definitely full PLL. Although you might not need it for a while. I'm sub-20 and still sometimes use 4LLL.

Thank you kindly!
No problem. If you find yourself not improving, or you feel that your LL is really slow, don't hesitate to learn 3LLL or 2LLL. I've seen people who average in the 50s and 40s who know full OLL and PLL. The main reason I still don't know full PLL myself is that I really don't need it yet (although I plan to finish up the last 8-ish algs within the next month).

I'm actually just too lazy lol.

I also procrastinated for a while in learning the G-perms and I think it was the N-perms but, in the end they are useful to know and will improve your averages. But, please, learn good algs from the very beginning. I didn't choose well and now I am procrastinating over changing my V and N-perms, which I hate. I still pretend to think that, with more practice, they will become good for me but, to be honest I would be better by just changing them for another alg that suits me better.

tips on improvment?
cross-2
f2l-9(good solve)-12(bad solve)
oll 10-12
pll 12-14
i use 3LLL sometimes and 2LL most times.
