Well I don't really have specific strengths right now as most all of my cubing is a weakness. I need to learn the PLL and OLL algs for 4LLL as well as push my F2L and Cross times down significantly.

You will be beating me in no time so, don't worry :)

I'd recommend to mix training then. Try to learn 1 or 2 algs a day and devote the rest of the time to practice F2L and cross. By the time you know all the 7 OLL algs for 2L OLL and 6 or so for 2L PLL you will have improved your F2L times a lot. Once you have met the bare minimum requirements to be able to solve the cube every time with CFOP method then you can start thinking about other stuff like 1L PLL, more efficient F2L, etc.

I just completely broke down my solve technique and am building from the ground up. I learned CFOP Beginner method in about an hour and am now working on doing 2L OLL first.

When people say things like Z Perm and G Perm are they referring to PLL moves that have certain orientations?

Each pll has a name, indicated by the letter.

I cant seem to get the last 2 corners to be in the correct position with the algorithms I have. Every other one is alligned. For some reason I think this block has been tampered with. First time i have played with it and also It's been a while since I cubed. P.S searching for this one problem hasnt been easy to find

problem solved. the pieces we're taken apart before and put in the wrong place.

cool thanks is there any time where it would be useful to do this? I'm just starting speed cubing so i just do the CFOP and have PLLs down, not very good at finger tricks or moving the cube fast tho. my PB is like 58 seconds and i average about 1 min 20 secs.

When you need to perform a last layer algorithm from a certain angle, then rather than rotate the entire cube, you would do an AUF before and/or after doing algorithm. The idea is that it's much faster to move a single finger to flick just the upper layer around instead of having to move both hands and physically regrip the cube to rotate it into the correct position.

Permuting the LL Edges Failure

Hello everyone,

I am permuting the LL edges on my Rubik's brand 3x3.

According to "http://cubefreak.weebly.com/beginner-solution.html", I have state 1, which requires the following algorithm:

R2 U F B' R2 F' B U R2

But when I do the algorithm, all it does is slightly scramble all sides of my cube, rather than perform the final swapping required to solve the LL. I have checked multiple times that I am doing the correct alg for my situation based on the link, and I have even undone each step in the alg (done the alg in reverse order, priming each step) to reset my cube to the State 1 shown, so I know I didn't make any error I'm aware of in performing the alg.

What do I do?! (I have only been cubing for 3 days, and have only performed 1 complete solve ever)

You are probably doing the B moves in the opposite direction.
Here is an animation of the algorithm: R2 U F B' R2 F' B U R2

I took a break from cubing for a while, and now I'm wondering what's the best/most popular method of lubing cubes? Quite a while ago i remember lubix being the go to, just as people were starting to use tracts. Is lubicle lube from the cubicle the way to go for my Moyu Aolong and Gans357? What weights are recommended? I don't want something too gummy.

Thx

Wow, thank you so much. That was exactly it. :) Now I've solved it twice ever...is it this slow for everyone to learn?! :/

Some people learn it faster than others. It took me a few days to learn using this site. It also depends on how much effort you put in. If you only solve it 1-2 times a day with the resources it could take you a bit to be able to do it with out the internet. If you decide you want to be able to do it any time and you have a hour or two sit down and learn the algs for the second layer and last layer. It really comes down to how much you care.

I was not sure if I should make a new thread for this so I decided to play it safe. Is there any validity too doing M'3 rather than M? Example is in the "X" OLL (all corners oreintated correctly but no edges) could it be better to do M'3 U R U R' U' M2 U R U' r'? I say this because it is really awkward and slow to regrip to get the M. M'3 would be done with pinkey ring middle finger. Is there a better way to do M? Thanks

Pushing up on DB sticker with middle finger.

I really really care. I cube every day for as many hours as possible, although with a full-time job that's about 4-5 hours TOPS, which isn't much. I would love it if anyone at all who sees this post, who has ever cubed at all, could private message me to set up a Skype chat or any other kind of chat - I feel very unconnected to the community because I don't know any cubers in person, and while I obviously have to learn through practice and discovery and memorization on my own, I would LOVE to have a cuber to chat with about my incremental progress and their tips and tricks. Youtube feels too impersonal. :) Thanks in advance.
