...What's wrong with doing a U/U' then the normal alg?

- thanks - I'll give those a whirl. The normal ones are good; I would like to be able to do my perms from any angle. I'm working on 2 sided PLL recognition, and find the angles easier to remember if I know a perm from their respective positions.

Is there a good alternative to the standard H perm?
I just can't get fast at the standard alg, does anybody use a different one that they would recommend? I know there's other algs, but I'm not sure if they're worth it.

Do you have trouble with M slices or the alg itself?

M slices I guess. I recently learned a different Z perm because I was even worse at the other one than I am at the H perm.
I don't know why, but I either lock up, do some move wrong, or I just have to do it rather slow. I've been doing the alg for over a year and can't seem to improve at it.

M2 U2 M2 U M2 U2 M2
R2 U2 R U2 R2 U2 R2 U2 R U2 R2
R2 U2 R2 U2 R2 U' R2 U2 R2 U2 R2

Thanks, I think I'll learn the second one, I've seen that before and I guess it can be fast?

You've probably seen it suggested as a OH alg. I'm not too sure if it's very useful for 2H, but it's better than any others I know of. The two Rs can both be replaced by an R' if you prefer.

That may be, yeah. Didn't realize I can replace the R for R', that's neat. I'll play around with it, and develop finger tricks for it. I'll see how fast I can get it, thanks!

Hello
Can anyone give me fast N perms and G perms ??
Sub 2 algs please, even sub 1 works :)
Thanks :D in advance
Time is dependent on the person, not the algorithm. Obviously the algorithm limits the time you can get, but what I can sub-2 won't necessarily be what you can sub-2. Here are mine, plus an alternative for Nb:
Na: R U R' U R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U2 R U' R'
Nb: R' U R' F R F' R U' R' F' U F R U R' U' R
Nb: R' U R U' R' F' U' F R U R' F R' F' R U' R
Gb: F' U' F R2 Uw R' U R U' R Uw' R2
Gc: R2 F2 R U2 R U2 R' F R U R' U' R' F R2
Gd: R2 F' R U R U' R' F' R U2 R' U2 R' F2 R2
My Ga sucks, but look here for lots of good algs for every OLL/PLL case.

What I think is "Hard Work Beats Talent" If you can sub 1 and alg, so can I. Potential of a Human being is limitless. If Feliks can solve a cube in 5.66 sec, so can I but it would take me more hard work than he did (i guess). Moral of the story: Never underestimate anyone :) :D

I can sub 1 all the G perms, they're just the normal ones everyone uses. I use the R2 F2 one also. I can sub 1 n perms also.

z (U R' D R2 U' R D')*2
z (D' R U' R2 D R' U)* 2

By far the fastest N perms.

Which M-slice flipping alg do most people use for edge pairing?

R U R' F R' F' R

That's an E-slice flip. I use U' R' U (R' F R F')

I'd like to see you sub1 the R2 F2... g-perm. That's pretty impressive.

Even I can't...and Antoine can only just do it.

Crap.. I do E slice pairing so I just read "edge flip" haha.

As for G perms, I cannot sub 1 the R2 F2 one by any means. Close, but not quite. The other one I have before. None of them are consistent but I HAVE sub 1'd all 4 before, just not the specific R2 F2 alg ;)

Oh cool, we're already talking about it. I was just about to come ask about G perms.

It seems like most of the ones people use involve wide turns, or rotations, or both. Is there some reason I shouldn't learn these:

Ga: R U R' U' R' U F R U R U' R' F' U R' U2 R
Gc: L' U' L U L U' F' L' U' L' U L F U' L U2 L'
Gd: L U2 L' U F' L' U' L U L F U L' U' L' U L
Gb: mirror of ^this^Gd. Didn't see it anywhere.

The optimal G perms also look pretty good:

Ga: F2' D R' U R' U' R D' F2 L' U L
Gb: R' U' R B2 D L' U L U' L D' B2
Gc: F2' D' L U' L U L' D F2 R U' R'
Gd: R U R' F2 D' L U' L' U L' D F2

Questions:
  • I solve mostly big cubes, which is why I'm a bit averse to algs with wide turns, and why I'm preferring the 3 gen ones over the optimal ones. Are those algs a good choice considering that I'll mostly use them for 5x5 and up?
  • Am I making a mistake in choosing some algs that are <L,F,U> and some that are <R,F,U>? Learning mirrors appeals to me because I dislike memorizing algs and using mirrors will make that easier. But regripping is a pain on big cubes and I might be better off with everything using R instead of L. Thoughts?

I don't think it's a mistake. Being ambidextrous can be a huge advantage in cubing and avoid the need for rotations or U2. The top cubers can translate algs from R into L quite easily.
I use the standard G perms (which I can understand you don't like for big cubes), and I found it quite intuitive to learn them from opposite (y2) angle. I also do a lefty T-perm faster than U2+righty.

Ga: F2' D R' U R' U' R D' F2 L' U L
Gb: R' U' R B2 D L' U L U' L D' B2
Gc: F2' D' L U' L U L' D F2 R U' R'
Gd: R U R' F2 D' L U' L' U L' D F2
These are actually the 'standard' algorithms converted into a rotationless and wide-turn-less form.

Setup: L U' L' F' L F L' y2

Fast rotationless inserts for the FR pair in this case?

I need algs for EG2

E4: (checkerboard U)
I have these...
R2 U' R' U R' F' R U' R U' R U2 R'
R' U R' F' R U' R U R' F2 R
R' F' U' F U2 R' F2 R F' R

but I want something better if possible.

Also for B4 and H1. I can't seem to find any standout algs.

edit: I found a good B4 alg.
