Another 5x5x5 first for me. I was about to finish a LL algo to solve the thing, and it left me with 3 middle edges out of synch, none of which were in the last layer! Ugh!

Flipping the cube, I have middle edges such that:

1. UB is populated with the middle edge from FD (So "upper back" needs to be moved to "front down")
2. UF is populated with the middle edge from UB (So "upper front" needs to be moved to "upper back")
3. FD is populated with the middle edge from UF (So "front down" needs to be moved to "upper front")

It's a 3-cycle of the sort I have not seen before since they are non-coplanar to the face side I usually solve.

an alg for the F2L case whwre the edge and corner in the U layer above the front right slot
the cross color facing you on the corner with the edge to the left of it and a bar on top
the usual alg I use is U R' F R F' U R U R'

But i need an alg that keeps edge orientation on the top layer

Edit Nevermind I found a soltuion
insert the edge with R U' R U2 then insert corner with triple sexy

R U R' U2 R U' R' U R U' R'
R U2 R' U R U R' U R U' R'

Is there an alg for multislotting this case?

I've been playing around for a while, and can't find any nice way of doing it yet, just ways to set up the second pair quickly.

There are 3 pairs to solve, which 2 do you mean?

I knew exactly what case you were talking about, but for some reason it took me 6 or 7 minutes to set it up. All I really needed to do was to flip two edges :( anyway, I think you mean this case (lower case slice moves mean single middle layer turn):
[y' R: [e, R' U2 R]]
The last two moves cancel, leaving you with R e R' U2 R e' R' U2.

Nice algs. I use R U' R U2' R2 U' R2 U' R2 but I like your first one

Bingo!

That was it! Now how the heck did I mess this up???

According to my notes I was executing an 8-move algo so somehow I got there in 8 moves?

Maybe U2 F (middle front slice towards the right) F' U2 F (middle front slice towards the left) F'

Thank you! You have restored my sanity (for the time being)

Mine is 8 moves :p I've just realised that actually my final alg is actually a simple 8 move commutator: [R e R', U2] (after a y'). I don't know why I didn't see that before :fp

I am ashamed to admit I forget how to undo the checkerboard pattern. It is only on the top and bottom faces. I know it is a bunch of spins, 2,2,2,2 etc but no matter how I hold it I get either 4 checkerboards or 2 checkerboards.

Anyone know what the heck I did?

:)

ALG for that pattern is (R2 U2 L2 D2)x3 (r2 u2 l2 d2)x3. whwn doing it hold the blue or green side as the Front face.

That's odd.

Yeah. I don't remember doing any U2 D2 type of moves when I was doing the double spinning rotations originally. I thought I was doing something like:

R2 M2 L2 u2 d2 R2 M2 L2 u2 d2, etc. I hope I am notating the M2 and E2 correctly. I keep forgetting which middle slice is which.

Not sure how to undo the middle slice position shown above without taking the long way (solve the middle edges, then the centers).

Anyone know how to to undo that pattern?
