Yeah, I've tried this one, but I'm not keen - it's the same alg with a Z to convert the L turns into Us and Rs into Ds. It's nicer than the original, but all too often I find myself U2 away after OLL. By the time I've recognised, done my U2/aufed, then Z, I'm already seconds behind. Ideally I'd like to find an alg that doesn't require a cube rotation.

Someone suggested F U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' F', which looks promising. I haven't had time to play with it yet, busy few days.

It's just one of those things, when an bad solve ends in T/H/U/A/etc. I can make up for some lost time with a decent PLL. When it's J(a) I'm stuffed! :fp

R' U L' U2 (doublefick with right hand) R U' R' U2 R r would help!

F U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' F'

Beautiful! Thanks... Keep meaning to take you up on that race to sub 18 challenge, but I'm still floating about 19-20s averages. A good Ao50 will have a few 17-18 Ao5s, but maybe this will help me get more consistently sub-20.

Thanks to everyone else also for your suggestions, greatly appreciated. As with all algs, it's what works for you and this one works for me! :-)

On a megaminx I'm looking for shorter PLLs that permutes 4 or 5 corners preserving edge orientation and permutation but that don't care about corner orientation. I know the beginners one that permutes 3 corners and it's mirror. I'm looking for something like that for 4 or 5 corners.

Thanks but those guys preserve corner orientation. I don't want or need that. I'm looking for something shorter that doesn't and would love to see a 5 corner one.
From what I found when I checked there isn't anything "shorter" for the cases you ask for. Your gain is 1-2 moves at best, and those algs didn't look to good.

The three cycles corners are 8 moves not preserving orientation -vs- 12 moves preserving. Edge cycles can be more pronounced. Almost every megaminx alg is just a lot nicer without corner orientation.

I'd expect the non-preserving algs might maintain that advantage/ratio although some 4 corner optimal algs (H-perms) get longer on the 3x3 if you introduce orientation issues while others like the E-perms get shorter.

Edit found one! Swaps 4 corners the same sort of way without preserving orientation.

F (R U R'U')3 F' 14 sexy moves instead of

R'U'R' D' RU'R' D RUR' D' RUR' D R2 17 ugly moves perserving orientation.

And another

L F (R U R' U')3 F' L'

instead of

[R'] R' D RU'R' D' RUR' D' RU'R' D RU

Even on move count for this second one - way up on the elegance and simplicity.

Still looking for others. They don't have to be built on the sexy move. I'm sure there might be even better than this I just don't know how to get them.

Edit: I haven't found the five cycles I think exist. Looking at the end of this page I suspect the O cycles might be optimal edge preserving (like an H-perm) and the Q cycles could be improved by ignoring corner orientation like an E-Perm.

Put together a nice guide with what I have found

Does anybody know of a good RUF L (Ja) perm for big cubes? The best I can find is F U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' F', and I can barely sub-1.5 it on 5x5.

Thanks!

I really like (y2) L U' R' U L' U2 R U' R' U2 R
however I'm not very fast so feel free to ignore me.

Also 11 HTM compared to the 16 you posted.

Thank you both, but I'm looking for a RUF one, that is one that only used R U and F moves, which is why mine is the only one I could find.

Just generated these with cube explorer. I picked the ones with the fewest F moves from 15 moves or less and tried them to see which ones were good. None of them were, but these two aren't that bad.
[y] R2 U' R' F R U' R2 U R2 U R F' R
R' U R U' F' U R' U2 R U' R' U2 R U' F

Also, what V perms do people use? I'm currently using R' U R' U' R D' R' D R' y R2 U' R2' d R2, but the rotation and d move are slowing me down. I prefer RUF unless the alg flows really well.
