Hey guys! I have a GuoGuan YueXiao and I average 18 seconds so I've been cubing for a while, but I've never "worn out" a cube. I've had the YueXiao for less than 6 months and it started getting too fast for me recently. I messed around with the tensions trying to get it where I usually like it, which I did, but even when the tensions are right, the layers seem to glide too fast and far compared to what they usually do, making my cube uncontrollable. I haven't lubed my cube with anything for a month, and I just took it apart and wiped the lint off the pieces with a paper towel. Does this problem have anything to do with the springs in my cube, or the core? I have a hard time understanding what springs actually do and how to tell if they need to be replaced. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have bought my gan air for a few weeks ,but I don't know how to tension it.Hope can get some few tips

Honestly the best way to tension any puzzle is to find a way that suits you by just playing around until you work out what you like in that cube. For example, I personally have always used either a 356 or 357 as main TH or OH main and the way they are set up is in such a way that a most of the other cubers I've talked to don't really seem to like but I find nice partly because I'm used to it and partly because the way I have them set up suits my turning style quite well.

Hi everyone,

So i just got a gans 356 air in the mail and tried it out. It was pretty good out of the box but I decided to put in the yellow springs because many people said it was better. However, after putting them in and tightening them so it could cut 45, the cube feels like its on the verge of exploding. I checked and sure enough, I cant even pull out an edge by force. However, Im afraid to turn normally because it just feels like it will explode. Is this something I have to get used to or did I do something wrong?

Also, what kind of lube and where should I lube this cube?

Thanks!

Do you just mean it's extremely fast? Or is it really flexy?
I have my springs tightened down so they're flush with the screw, and it's fine.

In terms of lubricant, I put some Lubicle standard on the core (the nuts eliminate spring noise, but it's still a friction surface) and a combination of Lubicle speedy and Maru on the pieces.

Something you might want to check is the screws on the feet of the pieces. They basically adjust the length of the stalk.

Ok I have adapted to the springs now but one problem I'm getting now is lots of minor lockups which cause my times to fluctuate a lot. I've heard that loosening the screw in the corner piece reduced catching on the 356. Will this work on the air as well or will it just ruin the cube? Also, wouild 50k work on the pieces or springs?

The Air is a relatively catchy cube, you just sort of have to use it enough that you stop making it catch (which is an unconscious thing).

Loosening the corner screws a turn or two does decrease catching, but for me it made my cube a little to rattly. That's just preference, though.

There's no reason 50k wouldn't work.

Rattling is more connected with the softness of the springs. If you try red, there will bi no rattling, gans air will be perfectly stable. But with red, the midle layer gets a bit tight, i like it. (but roux solvers wouldnt). With yellow, the cube is very soft but it is rattling. As you go more to orange or red, the springs are harder, but the cube gets very stable.

The screws in the corners adjust the length of the stalks. Making it too long literally means the cubie sits above its settled position, which makes it rattly.
From what I've found, the Air is oddly stable no-matter the springs you use, it just gets faster or slower. I'm currently using the yellow springs, and I'm gonna get the G series set pretty soon to try those out... I love fast cubes.

How to properly tension a yulong. Not feeling tight but will not pop.

I think what you're experiencing is over time the factory lube breaks in and gets faster, and at the same time any excess seeps out of the cube gradually as you solve it (gets on your fingers, etc). It makes the cube feel even faster than normal.

I've run into this problem as well with my Yuexiao and it's happening on my Valk as well. Once you wipe all the old lube out, try re-lubing it with something heavy like Wt 5. It will make it feel smooth and a little gummy but should slow it down a little and make it more controllable.

Pls tell me how to stop popping of yuxin white 2x2

A while back I bought a Moyu Aolong V2. I tried to "tension it" several times but I did not do it properly so now the different sides are uneven and it does not cut corners and it catches a lot. Even my Rubik's brand cube is better. What should I do? I do not know how to tension it properly and I do not own any lube. I am considering buying a new speed cube.
