Hey, I have 2x2-5x5 and a 7x7, but have never had a 6x6. I just ordered one though. I was wondering, around what times should I expect to get? I average about 8:00 on 7x7 and 2:30 on 5x5. I was thinking around 4:00, but I am not sure. I know that it depends, but what would you guys say?
Logiqx did a statistical study of relative times which shows 6x6 is about double 5x5, and 7x7 about 1.5x 6x6. So maybe 5:00-5:20?

I average about what you do on 5x5 and average about 6:10 for 6x6, but that's dropping pretty fast. 5:00-5:20 sounds about right.

7x7 Last 2 Edges help

Aloha all, I just got my first 7x7 (moyu aofu) and am a little perplexed by the centers. I tried doing what I do for 5x5, which is filling in as many slots as possible (which is all but the last one or two cubies) and then fixing the last pieces with the two algorithms I use for l2c. Do you even use algs on 7x7 centers, or is it fully intuitive?

But the problem I have with the 7x7 is that instead of having just one or two cubies left, I have over 4-7 left usually. I'm not sure how to go about this.

I just got the cube about an hour ago and was able to solve the rest of the centers pretty easily, but any tips on the l2c would be appreciated.

My 7x7x7 strategy for last two centers is to build the front center, column by column, in this order: middle, near left and far left in whatever order's convenient, near right, far right. After the middle column, the next 3 columns can always be done with just triggers. For the far right column you can always solve three pieces (the x-centers and +-centers) but you will have up to two pieces left, which you have to solve with commutators. I use the Niklas type ones, like Rw U 3r U' Rw' U 3r' (3r = 3rd slice only).

Does anyone have tips on making 6x6x6s stable? I have a SS and it's decent enough but it does tend to explode from time to time, or have a hidden edge pop out which is pretty bad too. It doesn't turn well and is already pretty tight. Is there any easy way to fix this, or a better brand I should try?

I don't know if there's a way to fix this, but my Aoshi is no longer sluggish (5ccs of Weight 2, and a lot of solves later), and is pretty stable. Most people seem to dislike it, but a well broken in Aoshi is pretty good.

Every SS 6x6x6 I've ever tried seemed to have the tendency to pop and even explode no matter what the tensions are.

Switch to Dayan springs if you haven't already, then tighten the tensions a LOT (the center piece should pull out less than a millimeter) and lube it with nothing but weight 2 and Maru.

You know, I was gonna get a Moyu, but I heard some top people saying they weren't good. I do like my Moyu 7x7 though, so maybe I should reconsider.

Yeah, I've never really played around with spring swaps. Partially because I have no clue what they will do (so I might ruin my cube) and partially because I don't know how to get screws separately... do cube stores sell a particular good type, or do you have to take an existing puzzle apart?

Most cube stores sell Dayan hardware in packs of 6.

Except Dayan screws don't fit. It's really hard to find screws whose heads are small enough to work in the SS 6x6. I have some in my 6x6 that fit, but it seems like the manufacturer increased the screw head size recently and they don't work.

I'm not sure how much 5x5x5 classes as a big cube, but I don't want to start a new thread...

I just did a 1:57 ao12 on 5x5x5, with splits 34/60/23.
I'm pretty sure my edges are the worst part of my solve... Do any of you have some kind of practise routine for edge pairing?

Sorry if this is a commonly asked question but I do not pay attention to big cubes very much.

How does one deal with L4E when the edges make 2 mismatched pairs? (Ex. Each Blue/Orange cubie paired with each Green/Red cubie AND each Green/Yellow cubie paired with each Blue/red cubie).

Also when using 3-2-3 is there a good way to deal with pre-made pairs? I have see videos on 3-2-3 but nothing dealing with special common cases.
