Hi

I can't believe I'm posting in the bigcube thread zomg lol I hate bigcubes, but yeah. I use 32223 for 4x4. The moment I finish the centers, I do a Uw, and start filling in 3 edges. The thing is, I often get something like when I do the Uw and put in an edge piece, following that, I can't find the next edge piece. I look around for like 20 hours, then I realise the corresponding edge piece is actually paired with the previous edge. How do I solve this? Since if I take out the edge, I will make the first edge I inserted in useless, since its pair is already somewhere else.

Lol this was so hard to explain. If someone actually gets it and is willing to help, thanks! :)

I used to have this problem too.

What it basically comes down to is improving your lookahead as a whole, as your finishing your last two centers you're not just going to look at the piece that is going to be moved by your first Uw, your going to look at what it is going to be pushed into, and are probably going to want to find the edge that it pairs with. This is will all come with practice, so long as during that practice you are consciously thinking about improving your lookahead.

Love the sig btw.

Then you can switch the two cross pieces with an M2 U2 M2 when it's in the correct spot.

And my question:

What're the differences between the Dayan and a Shengshou? I have a poorly modded Shengshou, so I was wondering if Dayan was better, or if I should just buy another Shengshou and mod it better than the one I currently own.

Hi! I recently bought a Shengshou 4x4 and 5x5 from different sites. The 4x4 come a little to loose and the 5x5 to tight. So my question is: is there any good guide/video on how to tension and lube this cubes? because I have no idea of what to do, I am kind of noob to big cubes. I made a little search but couldn't find any decent post. Thanks for advices.

4x4 OBLBL users - These are my splits for 7 steps. What besides final 3x3 stage needs work? :O

Step 1 - Two Opposite Centers
2 - Rouxblock
3 - Second almost-layer
4 - Third almost-layer
5 - Reduction of Last 7 Edges
6 - Finish F3L
7 - LL
If I had Orientation parity I usually did it during the F3L stage, but I occasionally did it during LL.

Buy another SS and mod it, it will be better.

When I solve my 4x4, I do the centers, then for the edges I hold it white on top and move the Uw and Dw layers to pair edges, then I move the edge to the top layer and repeat 3 times until the top is full. Then I flip the cube and repeat until I get 4 edges in the top layer, and for the remaining 4 edges I use algs.

#1 Is this called free slice?
#2 Should I try and learn a faster edge pairing method?
-If so, which one?

I would probably call this fixed layer free-slice, and, if I'm not mistaken, Yu Nakajima uses free-slice for 4x4 too, and he is very fast. What I'm saying is that you can certainly get fast with your current method, not many people use it, so it may be hard to find help and resources,I and this it may be a bit harder to improve.

Also, if you do want to look into other methods, you should probably look into 32223, 363, and Yau. They can all be extremely fast.
Hope this is insightful.

@Panda

Good news for you. I suck at OBLBL now.

1:25.51, 1:20.22, 1:18.06, 1:25.28, 1:22.43, 1:25.80, 1:13.84, 1:17.20, 1:21.57, 1:22.19, 1:18.93, 1:25.66 = 1:21.71 of 12.

I'll try a Redux Ao12 and then I might try to understand Yau again. If either average is better, I'm switching. :3
