Are there any algs that will switch 1 sticker from 1 side of the cube to another?

I'm planning on making some letters with my cubes (probably 3x3-6x6) and I was wondering if there were any commutators or something that would switch some center pieces and edge pieces. It's only going to be from 1 side so it doesn't really matter if the other sides are scrambled
I can figure out 3x3 easily enough. just can't figure out 4x4-6x6.

don't want to take anything apart or take off/put on any stickers.

So I did around 5 or 6 moves (I think, could be lower or higher) on my cube randomly. This gave an insertion which led to a sune (R U R' U R U2 R' with cancellations at the beginning I think). This ended up being a Jb perm overall. Does anyone know this alg? Sorry this is really vague, but it's really bugging me because I've got those first few moves in my muscle memory somewhere, because this has happened twice.

Please set up your 2x2x2 with: U' R2 U' B2 U2' R2' U' R2

If I want to solve this case I use:

R2 U' B2 U2' R2' U' R2

But in particular this AUF case doing the U at the end is awful. I need an awesome alternative alg I can apply here, which is more finger friendly about that U or even solves the AUF directly.
