Opposite colors adjacent on 4x4?

The white lower left center piece says Rubiks Revenge. I am on the edge pairing step of solving the cube but I have this green blue edge which I believe is not supposed to be there. I have blue yellow edge pieces, blue red edge pieces, blue orange edge pieces but no blue white edge pieces. Instead it is blue and green edges. Somebody must have put the wrong stickers on it when the cube was made or someone messed up the stickers after I got the cube(since it seemed perfectly normal when I got it. I also have white yellow edge pieces etc. How can opposite colors be adjacent? That doesn't make any sense. Yellow should not be adjacent to white in any case since in that orbit, the cube is unsolvable. So why are opposite colors adjacent on my 4x4 but opposite on my 3x3 if they both have rubiks on the white center or are from rubiks?

It sounds like your cube was stickered with a different colour scheme. Try solving the corners only, like a 2x2. Then you will see how your colours should be arranged.

Your cube is stickered with the Japanese colour scheme. It swaps blue and yellow. That's why.

I have a 4x4 Shangshou cube and it works pretty good. I have avg. from 3:00-3:40, but sometimes(every couple solves) it jams so I have to take it all apart which is a big pain. Is there anything I can do to keep that from happening?

P.S.: I want to get under 2:00 minutes I can't have it keep jamming.

I think the best to do is buy a new cube. A yuxin or a guansu will be enough for you. They are cheap and way better than the shengshou 4x4.

Hi,

I am sort-of new to 4x4 cubing and I have a few questions.

1. I can solve it in about 3:00-3:30 minutes and I use the method where I do the centers, then pair up the edges, and then finish solving the cube like a 3x3. Is there a different method people use to get under 1 or 2 minutes?

2. I want to get at least Sub-2:00 so is can someone point me to a good source to get to that time?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, almost everyone fast uses Yau.

Learn Yau and solve over and over. That's basically all you have to do to get sub-2. You could watch some Yau walkthrough solves to get used to the method if you want.

Hello, I started to speedcube 4x4 two weeks ago and I am liking it very much.

Currentlly I am averaging from 1:45 to 2 min, with some solves of 1:30 and a pb of 1:20.
As you can see my times vary a lot.

I just made 20 solves and these are my stats, I am using Yau with 3-2-3 edge pairing.

First two centers: 9.45
Three cross edges: 16.12
Four centers: 18.71
Remaining Edges: 30.54
3x3: 34.19
Total: 1:49

My 3x3 stage times vary depending if I have parities or not, my times for OLL parity are around 6s and for PLL parity around 3s, also in normal 3x3 I average around 25s.

What step should I focus and what would be a time breakdown for 1:30 and 1:15.

Thanks in advance

That's fairly similar to my times, I average around 1:30 which is unfortunate for competition cut offs haha. I suggest not timing solves for a while to improve look ahead on edge pairing. What cube are you using?

Yeah, I think edge pairing is the part I need to improve the most, and learn tricks for some cases.

I am using a MoYu Aosu mini, I used to solve with a SS and a cyclone boys but I struggle a lot with the SS and the cyclone boys pops its internal pieces a lot, with the Aosu I feel like I am flying.

Hello,
Sorry if this was posted before, but is there an oll parity alg that is shorter than standard and doesnt care about permutation of the cube. (Zz solver)

I really, really enjoy 4x4 and want to make it my main event, but I find it very hard to improve. I know that there is already a 4x4 discussion thread, but I could not find much help there. I am a 19-24 second 3x3 solver struggling to be sub 20, so my 3x3 stage is ok, even though I am constantly improving it. My centers usually take around 25-30 seconds, even though I am not that consistant. My edges are horrible, I have to look around a bit, pair them up correctly etc. and they are the weakest point of my solves. I am currently sub 2 minutes 30 seconds on 4x4. I have hardly any lookahead, on 3x3 and 4x4. Like I said, I need help improving. Help? Please?

I use basic redux. I would like to delay learning yau or an advanced methos for as long as possible, possible under 2 minutes or 1 minut 30 is it is possible.

No, it would be best to learn them now, it will help your times and its a lot easier and better to switch ASAP, I would also recommend becoming CN on 4x4 now as well

I feel like it might not be too good to learn yau too soon, like learning oll too soon id not good.
I want to be at least sub2minute so that I can actually improve with yau.
