Mirror PLLs to left hand?

Still a noob learning my PLLs. Being I'm left handed I was wondering if it's a good idea to mirror my PLLs to my left hand so that I would only have a U/U' AUF from OLL to PLL?

Actually I have the Left & Right handed PLLs and I'm good at doing the PLLs Right/Left handed. I was just wondering if there's any advantage to being ambidextrous at doing PLLs from both sides or is it better to pick a side?
It's definitely worth learning PLLs from other angles. Whether you learn them through mirroring algs or learning completely new algs is up to you. I think most people learn alternative algs that still use their dominant hand, but if you're ambidextrous, that's good too.

I 1st learned one set of PLLs. Then I added y2 versions of the Us which are different alg but I also use mirror As which I can do with my left hand as fast as with right. I also use two N algs that are one the mirror of the other (which is not the same thing as same alg with different orientation). Both N algs are crap, by the way, but I haven't found anything better for me yet. I'm also trying to practice mirrors for other algs like T and L/J but I'm clearly slower at those with my left. In fact with my orientations L is lefty J and the other way around. In the end I found out that learning the mirror or an entirely new alg takes almost the same time unless you are very good at mirroring. Once learned it all comes down to how fast you can execute.

I'd say if he's a lefty he will probably be as fast with his left or faster than with his right so, probably he should use all mirrored algs :) Does that mean that if he later practices OH he should do it with his right hand? I'm confused :)

Yeah, N perms suck. Try looking on algdb.net and going through some of the algs that just a few people use (as well as the more widely used ones, obviously); some of them are surprisingly good.
Don't try learning new T/J perms. The algs for them are fast enough already. I know a couple of L perms; it's good to know both the RUL one and the lefty J perm. Both are a similar speed.

I don't really get what you're saying here. If he's left handed, he'll be faster with his left, but he said he was ambidextrous, so he should be about the same speed with both his left and right hand.
People should choose whichever hand they prefer for OH. Right handed people don't have to use their left hand for OH; I don't, and some of the fastest people in the world don't either. I'm not saying I'm anywhere near the fastest in the world though :p I think it's good because my right hand is better than my left, so I can turn faster with it, and it doesn't really affect anything in the solve. Most people learn special OH OLL/PLL anyway, so I personally can't see why people prefer their left hand. But like I said, it's personal preference. Don't just do what other people do.

Yeah, precisely, I was trying to make fun of the OH controversy. It is supposed that people starts 2H and then, trying to accomodate most of the algs they already know, they choose their left hand for OH but you soon discover (I have and I just started OH like a month ago) that many of your already known algs are not good for OH so you have to learn new ones, as you have pointed out.

Also, which you have not pointed out but in my opinion is equally or even more important, the ones you can really use you have to re-learn them again anyway because of OH amnesia. When I started I could just do the simpler ones like OLL F sexy F' and things like that. Funny enough, and as a side note, the other ones I could do OH where the ones I had already mirrored because, when I learned them mirrored I made a conscious effort to examine them so I had them not just in muscle memory but in "normal" memory too.

So I was trying to make putting the case in revers: someone that mirrors algs for their left hand because they're lefties and then end up doing OH with the right, for the same reason. When you tell it this way it doesn't sound reasonable but most people that use their left for OH do it because of this (and they are right handed) or aren't they? To be honest, I'm almost ambidextrous so I can take advantage of at least some of my already known algs if not all but, now that you point it out, I think I should try OH also with my right, now that at least for me, it's not too late as I'm not sub minute still.

The problem is switching hand. People start with their left because they don't know that they're going to have to relearn half their algs, and by that time it's too late, since they're already used to turning with their other hand. Doing OH with your other hand is much harder than you'd think.

I'm trying to do repetitive R U R' U' move with my left hand and comparing to L' U' L U with my right hand and even though I'm terribly slow with my left I'm much slower with my right. At least, after 5 minutes of doing this, I stopped feeling awkward by just holding the cube with my right hand. In any case I cannot use my pinky with either left or right (I use my ring finger). Should I try to force me to use the pinky (long term advantage over ring)?

Yes, switch to pinky as early as possible.

I'm averaging around 11-12 seconds using cfop
and I feel stuck.

Where I need to improve is cross-f2l transiton and look ahead during f2l

I try slow solves but I find it hard to not look at the pieces I'm moving,

it's discouraging....I haven't been able to get a decent average in days my look ahead just isn't there.

Would the metronome method help with lookahead?

Ooohh.. I can almost taste that Sub-20 mark.. I still get a couple solves over 20 seconds but I think I'm just a few steps away from Sub-20. I've watched Cyoubx's video about being Sub-20 and I was wondering if there's anything else I need to worry about besides:

-Planning out cross
-Cutting transition time
-Reducing cube rotations
-Learning algs once in a while
-Checking AUF?
(list taken from this
)

Yeah, this is a CFOP question.. sorry Roux/ZZ/Petrus solvers.. ;~;

I can't watch the video at the moment, but from the list you gave, there's one important thing missing from it: lookahead. It's one of the most important skills you can learn. Do slower solves when you don't have a timer where you try to not pause at all during F2L; this will mean turning very slowly at first, but as you practise more you'll be able to turn faster and faster while still being able to look ahead. You'll be surprised how slowly you need to turn to get the same times you're getting now. And of course, if you can turn even faster than that, then you're going to improve even more.

Maybe learn full OLL if you haven't altrady.
The more algs you learn the easier it becomes to learn new algs quickly in the future.
Honestly what helped me the most to get s 20 was slow solves and a lot practice.
Slow solves will allow you to experiment with new ways to solve your cross and F2L

And just practice and don't stop.
You will get bad times here and there but just keep practicing and you'll be sub-20 in no time.

Solving the cross Wiki says that there are 3672 cases required to solve the cube in 8 moves HTM. Can anyone explain the #3672?

How do I plan out the entire cross during inspection time? I can only do half, and 3/4 if I'm lucky. I do cross strictly on yellow and white. Are there any good tutorials or anything that can help me out? Thank you! Also I can't even do it with 45 seconds of inspection so yea

any help.

any help.

There are a couple other lookahead methods out there, but using a metronome would probably help. It would also be a good idea to keep unsolved pairs in the front, to see some of the pieces better instead of having them on the back. It might sound a little weird and may not work most of the time, but it's an idea I'm throwing out.. c:

is there a better alg for ZBLL-T #56 than those two that are found everywhere:

L U2 L' F' U L U' L' U' F L U' L'
L' U2 D L' U L' U' L' U L2 U D' L

i also tried the Y mirror of the second alg, but regripping 3 times sucks just as much with RUD.
