So I have a YJ SuLong, and I've been having problems with the tensions. Most of the screws are crooked, making the normal ways to tension ineffective. I've tried to search for other threads that have effective ways and tutorials on YouTube, but nothing really helped. Do any of you have ideas or suggestions? The only one that kind of worked was Cyoubx's tutorial... except that the SuLong has REALLY GOOD Corner Cutting, and can sometimes even go Line-To-Line (Over 90 Degrees)
Perhaps, try using a Dayan Core if you have one spare. I have heard they work well in YJ cubes.

Note: I actually have a set of DaYan ZhanChi Springs, but they're a LOT longer than the ones in the SuLong. Would it help?
All cubes can corner cut 90 degrees ......90 degrees is one turn... :p
and does the cube turn normally or does this problem affect the turning ....

Guys, good tutorial for tensioning. My Aolong feels flimsy and my finger gets caught between egde and corner piece?
My current tensions are moderately loose

Hi everyone. I have a problem with tensioning. Everyone says, that i should drive screws until I feel resistance and then loose them the same. I don't feel one, it just keeps going. I heard a lot of people has the same. Is it problem with the core, or just some cubes are made like that? the cube is guhong v2 and has no other problems.

No matter how much you screw it in, it just keeps spinning? Sounds like a problem with the core... Does the screw look weird at all when you take it out?

No, it's absolutely fine, it looks normal. Do you think it's problem with the core? I mean, cube is more and more tight when I'm screwing them, so it all works properly. It's just weird that they are spinning forever :P Oh, and the problem is with all 6 screws, none of them feels resistance while screwing.

Do you see some kinda grooves(threads) on the screws

No, only the (i dont know how to call it) channels standard for the screws..

Help with Tensioning

Hello, this is my first time posting. I hope that this question is in the correct location.

I have been speed cubing for about a month, with a focus on the 3x3. I dont have any desire to go to tournaments, its really just a hobby for me. I enjoy practicing, and getting my times as low as possible.

Just for fun, I purchased a modded MF8 V2 megaminx, and a Maru V2 4x4 from icubemart.com. When they arrived, the 4x4 was ok but I could tell it needed a bit of lube and tensioning. The megaminx was pretty bad. it popped like crazy, and constantly stuck. I took apart the megaminx, lubed it with jigaloo, and then tensioned the core by placing a coin between the plastic and tightening the screw. In effect, I made all sides even tension by keeping making the gap in each the same as a coin. I then assembled the puzzle, and since I knew all sides were the same tension, I could dial it in by turning quarter turns on each side until it was how I like. This may not be the best way to do this, but it worked for me great! The puzzle is now a dream to solve. It turns great, cuts corners a bit, and doesnt stick much at all. Also popping is completely gone.

Today I decided to do the same thing with the 4x4. First.... holy smokes was that sucker hard to put back together! Second, I dont know if its the cube, or if I messed up when tensioning individual sides after assembling, but now the sides do not turn the same. Some sides (im not talking middle vs edge slicing im talking green vs white) turn better than others. The sides are so different that it throws me off when I'm trying to solve.

Sorry for the long intro... My qustion is, is there some sort of logic to tensioning while a cube is assembled? meaning, if green layer is hard to move, does loosening it affect the other layers? I tried to go one by one and loosen/tighten as needed, but everything has gotten worse. If green is hard to turn and I loosen green screw, green is still hard, but now another side is easier. If I didnt dread assembling this thing again, I would take it apart and start over.

Sorry for rambling, im trying to put a lot of detail in because its a hard thing to explain.

Any help is appreciated.

My weilong can't even cut 40 degrees but when it was out of box it could 55 degrees. I think the corner cutting got worse because I changed the tensions. I tried to tension it as best as I can but It doesn't work. It locks up huge every solve so i get 2 seconds slower then usual.

How I tension:
Start with the core (disassembled cube)
Adjust all the screws until, when you pull up the center piece, they pull up equally.
Assemble cube, and loosen/tighten equal amounts until satisfied.

Thanks it worked.
I am having hard times tensioning the 4x4. Most of the people say use that cylinder thingy and tighten it the same amount. But it's not
accurate at all. Any help?

Tried Tensioning a Lingpo 2x2, Dun Goofed

I tightened all the screws all the way, then I loosened each screw one turn at a time. Now it's all jank and scratchy and won't turn well (it feels like it's pulling on springs) and I'm not sure what I did?
