Wow I failed. Everything is a type of reduction unless you solve the 4x4 like a 3x3.

what do you mean unless you solve the like a 3x3?

Try solving you 4x4 using layer by layer.

K4 looks really hard to do! I use straight up reduction and get an avg of around 1:30.

I don't do 3 at a time, I do 2 at a time:

(Just to clear things up: I do not use Yau as in the reudction and cross method, but I use reduction and have my own edge pairing system which I also call Yau )

Do a 3-at-a-time method first for a while, it helps develop good look ahead skill, which will be essential when you later on learn a 4-at-a-time method.

I do one at a time and got a 55 avg12 or something around that lol

There is no best method. Many of the top 4x4 solvers use different edge pairing methods.

Not that it matters, but I use 2 at a time.

For those of you that pair 2 at a time do you pair up the edge you move or the one you leave stationary?

For example pairing the edge which moves creates a pair where the U meets B using M slices.
Pairing the edge which stays stationary creates a pair where U meets F.

oh yeah, I believe I used that fro a while but still couldn't get my first 3 fast enough

4x4x4 edge help

my 4x4 times are around 2:30- 3:00 my centers take up to 30 seconds the edge take a minute and the 3x3 solve is about the same. I use the 2 pair chain solving. Got any faster solutions or should I practice it.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
