i'm new to 4x4's,(got mine 2 days ago{lan lan speed cube from amazon}) and i do not know how to pair the edges. please direct me to a method

4x4 Splits help

My 4x4 splits are like follows( average)
Centers- 16 seconds (varies from 10 to 25)
Edges 42 seconds (varies from 30 to 60)
Post Redux 27 seconds( varies from 17 to 35) .

Obviously, these are not comparable splits, i use 3-2-2-2-3 for Edges. (do A u Turn, solve 3 edges, then solve others 2 at time normally).
What according to you would be a good split ratio
Also, what would be an effective way to achieve it quickly, I m very bad at tracking pieces. And While inserting edges in the E ring, If the edge is on U face, its quite convenient. If its on D face, I will do a x2 or z2 and then insert it. Should i practice inserting them without rotations? What else should i do?
All help would be appreciated
Akash

P.S (I dont know if there is a thread on this, i found some of them, but none really answered my question)

I'm not an E-slice pairer, but based on what I observe from other cubers's videos, you remember what pieces are on U. Then when you can't find a piece you'll know for sure that it's on D. Your splits are alright, but 3x3 can be faster, based on your 3x3 times. Edges you just got to practise, that's all I can say. Your lookahead will develop over time.

My general tips are:

Centers: Just try to turn as consistent as you can. Don't stop to look for pieces, and generally, recognizing centers isn't that difficult.
Edges: For the 2-2-2-2 phase, try to do Dan Cohen's metod where you track white and yellow edges. Helped me alot atleast.
3x3: Look-ahead and plan your cross and the rest of the solve at same time as you are finishing the edges.

I don't think you could do that for 32223.

You can always which edges you are going to solve. If you see a white-red edge attached to a green-orange edge, then you always go for the white-red piece since you know where that piece is.

BTW, in my previous post I wrote 2-2-2-2. Of course I mean 2-2-2

Forgive me for not considering that aspect. I just solve everything from the same spot :) But wouldn't it be too cumbersome to look for edges that would have yellow and white? You solve 2 at a time, after all.

4x4 is my favorite event. I average 1:01 and use the same method you use. Just practice a lot by solving the whole cube over and over, concentrating on look-ahead. Over time, you will get faster. Don't try to insert pieces without rotations, they don't slow you down very much. What cube do you use? You may want to consider purchasing a ShengShou V3 if you don't already have it.

Here are my split averages:
Centers: 12 seconds
Edges: 24 seconds
3x3: 24 seconds

Sticking to one colour can help you, but in my opinion, it could limit your option in the long run. I think it's like not being colour neutral on a 3x3 (even though a single cross colour will just cover 1/6 of your options, while in this case white/yellow edges covers 2/3. But you get the point).

last corners of 4x4x4

My son is having problems with the corners on the last layer of his 4x4x4. I don't have a pic to post so I'll try to explain. The two front corners are in the correct positions, but the back two are not. The alg U R U' L' U R' U' L doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone help us out?

4x4x4 cannot seem to OLL pic example

I have watched video after video, and I've looked at different sites and none of them show cases like I am getting. It has to be some noobie :fp 4x4x4 mistake. I keep reading to do it like 3x3x3, but On 3x3x3 I do F2l and 2 look Oll + Pll, and I have only been able to successful solve it once. Please any help on OLL...

OLL parity.

I use:

r' U2 l F2 l' F2 r2 U2 r U2 r' U2 F2 r2 F2

That just flips the dedge, not the corners. Lower case letters denote the slice.

Otherwise, you can do,
Rw' U2 Lw F2 Lw' F2 Rw2 U2 Rw U2 Rw' U2 F2 Rw2 F2

Same thing, it just flips the corners, too.

Edit: On another note, don't listen to me. The algs I use are terrible.

Thank you, but I have looked at that site before and none of those cases match my situation. In fact I never get those cases ever.
