[Help Thread] 2x2 Discussion

so i use ortega and i get 7 seconds pretty much every single time :/ i cant seem to get under that unless i get lucky like being able to skip OLL please help :)

what i usually do is i look for the most solved side and see how i can do the first side most efficiently and see if and where the bar will be and then i do the first side and then look for the oll case and then do the pbl and i always try to get the bar in the front with the first side

Using the inspection time helps a lot. You have to be able of memorizing:
- Which moves are you going to do in order to build the first layer.
- Wich case are you going to deal with (1st layer solved, swap (T) or Y perm).
- If the case is a swap, be prepared to put the bar correctly.
I am not a speedcuber (I prefer solve many different cubes), but I know Ortega and I'm able to average 5-6 seconds without practicing too much.

thanks but i think it seems lkike that is what i do :/

I was like you a month ago just practice really trying to predict oll can help but he main thing I did as crazy as it sounds is slow down and look ahead I average 4-5 now and that's all I really did but learning a few other places helped me as well another thing I did was use some clls which was easy for me because I do coll in my 3x3 solves

I average 2.8-3.2 with ortega. To get fast you need to know 2 algs for each OLL and 1 look most of the time. Also having a fast 2x2 and good TPS helps.

To avoid bad PBL cases/ force good ones
thats a bit confusing because at that point if youre going to learn algs to force good cases why not learn algs to force no case (EG) dont you find one looking the solve a bit hard especially the last layer

How to get sub 4/3 on 2x2

General stuff u need for sub 4/3
Need? I don't know about need.

However, things that may be useful:
1) CLL/AntiCLL
2) Varasano
3) Guimond
4) Finding 4-6 movers
5) TPS is constantly high (you don't need to speedup after pickup)
6) Very, very quick alg recognition (and prediction could be good)
7) Efficient faces/layers etc

Other stuff which might not be as necessary:
1) EG (full)
2) 1-looking most solves
3) Multiple algs for way case to reduce AUFs
