I'm learning full OLL because I like learning algs and in the long run it'll be faster. Full PLL was a must for me though, so you should do that first IMO.

Learn full PLL, and you will be sub25 in no time. :)

Then, when you find yourself stop improving, start learning OLL if you feel like it :D

If you learn them all your move count could be a good 20 moves fewer, depending on your turn speed that could be a good few seconds. Your recognition and recollection times will go up, and it will take a bitty to get all the algs at a comfortable speed, but in time you'll get past that and you'll just end up with the benefit of two less looks and much fewer moves. Basically the sooner you know them all the quicker you'll see the improvements (though don't rush it, 1/2 algs a day is plenty.

It's worth it to start sooner rather than later. You can't stop time, so you might as well make good use of it. You don't want to be kicking yourself a few months from now having procrastinated learning 2LLL for longer than it would have taken to learn it. It takes a long time, but it's worth it if you're going to continue cubing for that long.

Also, don't be overwhelmed by the number of OLLs. Try to learn the algorithms intuitively by how certain blocks move around. This is a simple example one:

visualcube.php

R U R' U' R' F R F'

All you're doing is removing an F2L pair (R U R') and hammering it back in (U' to line it up and R' F R F')

Once you know that one, you can learn this one in a matter of minutes (or even seconds):

visualcube.php

S R U R' U' R' F R f'

It's the same thing but with an S at the start, and an f' instead of F' at the end.

Or these two:

visualcube.php

F R U R' U' R U R' U' F'

visualcube.php

f R U R' U' R U R' U' f'

Both just two normal sexy moves (R U R' U') but one has uses F and the other uses f.

With just sexy moves and regular F2L pair stuff you can learn a large number of OLLs (and some PLLs) in a few days or less. Just take a look through the OLL page and if you see one with an easy alg then just learn it and practice it a bit. Some OLLs are long, but most are short and simple.

Here's one more:

visualcube.php

R' U' R' F R F' U R

Just take the back right F2L pair and remove it, but don't put the side back down (R' U'), do a hammer in on the front (R' F R F') and then put the pair back in that you took out at the start.

Basically these are "triggers" with some easy set up moves and they make memorizing and performing most OLLs really easy.

Remember that these take a matter of seconds to perform, and even if it's a four or five second execution because you just started learning the alg that's still no time at all in terms of practice. So, don't just do it a few times and stop. Practice for a minute at a time at least. If you can practice for ten seconds, you can practice for a minute (usually). That's a lot of practice if you do it several times throughout the day.

My 2-look OLL is so fast and fluent at the moment, that it feels like I'm doing 1 alg. I would need to get much faster before I would be capable of reaping any benefits from one look OLL...

Makes me realize how much I still need to learn and how much I suck at cubing...

i do 2 look OLL and 1 look PLL unless it's an N perm or G perm. I can sub 14 with it. I get almost 20 if i get an N perm or G perm though.
i just need to learn 6 more PLLs and 1 OLL (don't know headlights) because i'm lazy and can't memorize tons of algorithms

Yes, as posted by others, PLL is basically a must if you want to achieve sub 20 easily and quickly, however, learning OLL helps afterwards if you aren't quite under 20 seconds yet

G perms are the biggest source of frustration in my life right now. And considering how much sh*t I'm going through at the moment, that's kind of a sad statement...I luv cubing FTW...*sob*...

G-Perms don't really look bad to me either.

Well, thanks for the replies anyone. I decided to learn full OLL and PLL in 9 months because I don't have a lot of time to cube (job etc.). I'll learn an algorithm on Monday, practice it and apply it in real solves till Thursday, learn another one on Thursday and again practice it and apply it in real solves till the next Monday.

The only thing I'm worrying about though is the following; I do an average of 100 daily. Will I proceed on timing my solves or just do 100 solves without timing them until I know all OLL/PLL's?

I think the latter is better because my times will temporarily become bad anyway.

On the original question: For CFOP, learning OLL and PLL is the way to go. I honestly didn't start seriously learning OLL until I was right at 20 seconds, and when I did start learning it, I learned it as I went. If a case I didn't like popped up, I'd learn an alg for it. Simple as that. Currently I'm at 14-15 average having learned full OLL (minus two cases, Dothead and Star of David).
But as to what to do now, work on your F2L LOADS. Take PLLs as they come. Don't time yourself for awhile.

On the topic of G-perms: I never learned them, and I never will.

I'm really surprised people aren't doing G perms. They come up 2/9 times, are quick to identify and have very few moves. The majority of the popular algs flow really nicely with just one annoying regrip, but even if you do them slowely it's gatta be faster than 2 looking them.

May I ask what your problems with G-Perms is?
I really like them actually...

Can't seem to permanently convert them to muscle memory for some reason...They'll be muscle memory one day and then the next, I have to mentally recite the notation in order to regurgitate them during a solve. This has been going on for month now...

I hate grinding algs but maybe I should do it more often.

On topic if cubing is worth your time so is learning oll and pll and to the g perm guy learn them then instead of just drilling them do many solves and some of them will have g perm thats a better way to do it imo
