Has anybody else got times recorded for 6x6 parity? Just wondering how much time I should put into drilling parity vs. regular solves. I just did an Ao12 for inner wing/outer wing/OLL parity, and the times are 10.40, 8.00, and 7.26 seconds. I'm aiming for 4:30 total now, current Ao12 is 4:59.88, Ao100 is 5:10.83.

Inner: 8.29
Outer: 6.12
OLL: 6.15

To provide context, my average is around 3:10-3:20. I don't think you need to set aside time to drill parity algs specifically yet, although that would be useful in the long run.

HI guys, ive just started 5x5 and want to use a layer by layer method but is their any algorithms to solve the third layer?

Any responses appreciated

Redux is generally the preferred method, but if you really want to do layer by layer try looking up k4/k5; that's probably about what you're looking for.

At home, dropping my Gan SM
Hi, I'm a complete noob at 5x5. It takes me around 6 mins to solve it. LOL :p
I need help on doing my last centers quicker and my tredges quicker. I also don't know how to do the slicing thingy for the tredges.
Any help?

The fastest way to get better at big cubes is to spam tps. I average 1:40, and like I said, spam tps. Look ahead will come with practice.

For 6x6, does anybody, for centers, make a 2x2 piece, and then get the pieces on the ends for that 2x2 block, making a 2x4? And then just making 2 bars, connecting them to the 2x4 one at a time, like normal? That's what I do, but I'm slow right now. (5ish minutes)
I average 2:40-2:50 on 6x6.
What you do works only in certain cases where most edge centers of that colour are paired together in strips of 2.
If that isn't the case(or if it can't be set up) then it is better to go for 4x1 strips or multiple 2x1 strips.
What you do is what I did initially but then I stopped.

I average sub 3 on 6x6 and use a magnetic red.
Any tips on getting faster?
How long should I take for each step?

One question: How do you reduce piece searching on 5x5 and up? If someone could tell me that would really help my solves in the future.
At least at my level (~2:40 5x5) that really is just practice. Do a bunch of solves (preferably hundreds), and you'll start to get a better feel for where pieces are, and what parts of the cube are already solved so you don't have to look there.

Honestly at that speed, the best thing might be just to put more time into it. Check out Kevin Hays' Tuesday Tips on Youtube, I believe episodes 1-10 focus on beginner big cubes.

I need to get sub 5 on 6x6 in about one month. Currently I use reduction and average 6:30. Anyone got any tips?
As @joshsailscga said, practice a lot of 6x6 solves. Last month I was averaging around 4:00 and since then I have done 70-80 solves and have dropped my 6x6 times to around 3:30 which is close to a 30 second drop. You also might eventuality want to switch to freeslice seeing as that is a really easy method to learn and a little more advanced then reduction. Plus I believe most of the top 6x6 solvers use freeslice.

Nitpick: Freeslice is part of a reduction method. ("Reduction" isn't a shorthand for "reduction with one-at-a-time edge pairing"; it literally just means any type of reduction method, usually understood to be with freeslice for F8E + cycles/slice-flip-slice for L4E.)
