[Help Thread] Colour Neutrality Discussion

Hi,
I Practiced colour neutral last month. I average 18 with yellow/white dual cross. but colour neutral solves I avg 23 seconds. my lookahead is good on yellow white and my f2l is efficient but I can't go as fast on colour neutral, nor am i as efficient as I am on yellow white...my question is
Should I just become a yellow/white dual cross solver? I am aiming for sub 10, will being a dual colour cross solver make sub 10 hard? Do you know any sub 10 solvers who are not colour neutral?
Thanks

Stick with colour neutrality. It'll only be a few weeks until you are as fluent as white and yellow as with other colours. Trust me, you will not regret it later on. I waited until sub 15 to switch, a bad choice. It will take me a month and a half to learn 2 more colours, minimum. I regret not switching earlier.

Having better starts on solves means more than you think.

I am now fully CN, but the only problem I have is choosing the cross. I have seen jskyler's tutorial, but I think it is a little too advanced for me. Any
tips?

Same here. That is too advanced for me too. But this is my progression
1) Do cross on the side with the most colours of that centre. For example white has 2 edges and blue has 3 edges, so I will do blue. And as for now inclide those twisted adges also.
2) Try to do the easiest cross. Now you look each 6 sides and do the easiest. It will take more than 15 seconds at first but you will get used soon and will be able to get it under 15 sec.
3) Choose the easiest cross and track f2l pair.
I am currently at this step. I think the next would be to choose cross where you already see forst pair or can build and easy x-cross. And then follow jskyler's tutorial.
Hope it helped :)

I have trouble with this sometimes, too. Sometimes one color is obviously a better start than all the others, so those cases are easy to pick out.

When no color is really easy, and two colors are both sort of "ok" then I try to quickly track a pair for each one, or at least see if one color has a good pair to try to save.

When all colors are equally "bleh" I have a hard time. I've had some solves where at about 12 seconds of inspection I finally choose a cross color and go. If I can recognize a scramble like this earlier then I will often just choose the better of white/yellow (I am transitioning to full CN from dual/color). I don't like doing this though, and I am trying to learn to still be able to pick out the "best" color, even if it takes several seconds.

Does anyone have any advice for those all colors are seemingly equally bad scrambles?

Question about color neutrality

hey i just started to do what joseph skyler said about changing color every five days and i used to average like around 30 secs some sessions 28, 29 but in general like 30. and i looked at some other posts and a lot of you guys said cn is just hard and not benefitial so i started to doubt. but when i practice i get sub 30s so its ok and its like my normal level, i heard that when youre faster its harder to become cn so maybe thats why im getting my same level and i thought it could get me a better look ahead also by practicing what you think, am i right or no. :)

Any Color Neutral Solvers?

Hey guys. For about 2 months now, I have been training to be color neutral. I even modded my Cyclone Boys 3x3 to help me become color neutral. Which for some reason, people think is worth $24 :p. Anyway, I just wanna know who out there is color neutral. If you are, you deserve an award. Like I said, I've been training for 2 months and I'm still far from perfect on it even though I have been cubing for only about 8 months.

dawg that modification won't help you because you're changing the color scheme so all the f2l pairs are different, but good luck

I'm color neutral with a preference of white. There are days when I don't do a single white cross, and days when I only do white cross. I'm weird

Your right. If only I used f2l... XD

I swichted while learning f2l, beacouse my f2l was same bad on white and on CN. I learn on white and after 10 f2l solves, I started CN.
In my opinion it is worth it.

Will getting colour neutral effect my times ?

I have a question to advanced cubers or cubers which have already did it i am a white cross solver and i really want to get colour neutral but i am worried that this can effect my times i mean my times will get worser.how long it needs to get colour neutal and can i practice and work on it with out loosing my speed (my avarage solve time is 12.53 seconds) i am happy for any advice.:)
