...wtf
Or you could just
(R U R' U') l' U2 l U2 l U2 r' U2 l U2 l' U2 F2 l2 F2 r (U R U' R')
instead of doing an extra alg for no reason

LOL @ "wtf" :)

Yes. All cases are listed starting here (and I have posted a variety of algs I found by hand (as well as algs others found with 3x3x3 solvers) for each case, including move optimal algs).

OMG! That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

But..... my dang 4x4x4 "Rubik's Revenge" cube just snapped a center piece. Can you believe this crap? :(

Just my luck!

Are there any cubes that are better than this rinky-dink cube I got for $5 at Toys-R-Us? Clearly there must be some nuclear grade cubes that you speeders use.

And thanks to everyone who posted that I missed. It is like I am experiencing vision for the first time!

The best cube right now is the Moyu Aosu, but I believe it's around $25. Alternatively, the ShengShou 4x4 is also pretty good (still far better than a Rubik's brand) and costs less than $10.

I average ~21 on 3x3. What should I average on 4-7? I'm at about 1:05, 2:25, and 6:55 (not counting 6x6 since I don't have one)
Sorry if this is answered somewhere else, I used the search option and couldn't find anything

There isnt a range of time you should be averaging at, i depends on what you practice more
I practice 7x7 the most, heres my average
3-18, 4-1:10, 5-1:50, 6-3:20, 7-4:20

Time equivalents on 7x7 of sub-20, sub-15, sub-10?

I don't like comparing speeds in different events like this; perception depends on how easy you find each event to improve at or how much you practice each event. One person may say that sub-10 is equivalent to sub-X on 7x7, and then another person who finds bigcubes difficult will come in and say that sub-10 on 3x3 is significantly easier than sub-X on 7x7, and then another person who finds 3x3 really difficult to improve at could come in and say that sub-10 on 3x3 is way harder than sub-X on 7x7.

For instance, I would probably tend to compare sub-10 3x3 to much faster barriers on bigcubes than many others would, because I find 3x3 intrinsically harder to improve at due to the much higher required turn speed.

I avg ~7:00 on 7x7. My splits are about 4:20-2:30-:40. Which step is worst?

Doesn't matter, don't worry about it, just practice it all. At your speed, all of it has plenty of room for improvement, and you shouldn't need to practice specific steps to get faster. By the time you might actually need to work on one step more than the rest, you will probably have the awareness to realize yourself that you are relatively bad at the step in question.

5x5x5 Exchange 2 centermost cubes only

5x5x5 8 centers.jpg

So plugging away like the noob that I am, I managed to get far enough on 5x5x5 solves where I can move 8 of the 9 centers around with impunity at any stage of the solve. I solve the centers very near the end, unlike almost everybody else :) So is there an algorithm for moving just the two center-most cubes without disturbing the rest of the cube?

Thanks in advance is anyone knows how to do this!

So, what you have done is actually solve the center pieces around the incorrect center colors. Remember that the center piece on a 5x5 is the same as that on a 3x3, meaning that it cannot move in relation to the others. If you want to solve your cube, rescramble it and solve all of the center pieces with the correct fixed center color.

If all 8 corners are correct, and I have two full sides solved (U = white and D = yellow) then I should be able to move the other centers. I know the centers are fixed, that doesn't mean I can't "move" them. You can have 2 solved sides on a 3x3x3 with just the centers incorrect on the other 4 of a rubik's cube. Correct?

You can have those 4 centers incorrect in 2 oppositely-swapped pairs (do M2 E M2 E' on a solved 3x3), but not in a 4-cycle like you have in your picture. You need to solve the center pieces around the correct innermost centers.

But isn't that like saying "You can't get there from here?" :)

I scrambled the cube, there must be an inverse operation.
