Both the two cases you are having trouble with are parity. You should be proud, coming this far, and showing the cubing world that people don't need tutorials to solve (or at least get close to) a 4x4, or any other kind of cube.

I don't think there's any intuitive way to solve parity, that I know of. There may be, but I've never heard of it. Give yourself the two weeks.

I know there arent intuitive ways, but there has to be a way to tackle parity. I'm just not good at looking at the cube and going "I need to do this, this and that". It just hurts...

Parity is a pain. I don't even know the OLL parity alg for the 4x4, and I have had it for almost a year.

Congrats if you find a way to solve parity by yourself, it will be a great accomplishment.

For OLL parity you can do random r and U moves to break up centers and a few edges. Then fix the centers and proceed with the solve. This works better with reduction though.

unfortunately I dont know how to do either of those. I'm going to give them a shot. I can solve a 2x2x2, but It takes me a while. I dont know any algorithms cept the ones i learned from 3x3x3.

I've been a trying a lot of things with the algs. i know already. Unfortunately none work. I am able to get past the pair parity, but its actually dumb luck. I Mess the pairs up and reconstruct a few times and hope for the best.

Alright, update.

Still trying to shy away from alg's. I've been staring at my partially solved 4x4x4 for a while...Edges solved, 2 corners solved, 2 not.

I've tried a LOT of things, and I'm stuck. So I went back to the 2x2x2. Knowing the alg's that I know from the 3x3x3 cube and just using the knowledge that I have, I'm able to solve the 2x2x2 with 4 alg's that I know from the 3. I was happy to know that I could solve the 2 corner case on the 2x2x2. I ran back to the 4x4x4 cube and tried it out, then realizing that the alg's i know are moves I use for edges and they screw up the orientation of the edges.

I could probally find a way to solve it if i get the pieces JUST in the right place, but thats hard, and really silly to do.

Sucks.

I've just been trying to mess up the cube and reconstruct it and see if that fixes the placement of the corners, but I cant seem to do it.

So update...trying to do this has caused me to crack the 2x2x2. Ha. I'm not fast at it but I can now solve it without any problems...

But I am frustrated

Help 4x4x4 Solution !

Dear all my good friend PLEASE HELP ME !
Dear all good and smart member.Did anybody have a step by step solution to solve 4x4x4 Rubik's Cube. Before this i try to learn and understand almost all alg's and solution that you all give but still cannot solve it, so please please please help me !!! Million thanks friends...:o:(:fp:D

Don't learn Dan Browns parity algorithms. You only need two for oll and pll parity and one for center edge parity. If you need more, just ask. I could put a video together for you if you really need it, but there are already so many out there, you should be fine.

Help on 2-pair edge solving on 4x4

Hi, I'm trying to get faster at the 4x4... because it's awesome. Anyway My centers takes about 25 seconds, 3x3 solve 35 seconds, so I figure what bringing my times up to 1:50 is my edge pairing. I've tried learning 2-pair but the set up takes me about 10 seconds, execution about 5 seconds, that leaves me at about 2:25 second solves.

I'm wondering if I'm doing my edge pairing wrong. The way I set it up is find to edges and get them set up, I then look at the left edge above/below the one I already have set up, I look at what edge it is then try to get the other edge that matches with it in the FU (ha) position with the same colours facing me.

So if I set up Orange & Yellow with the Edge on the left on the bottom, and the edge above that is Blue Black with me facing Blue then I put the other Blue black piece at FU (ha) with Blue facing me and do Dw R U' R' Dw'.

Is there a different/faster way to set it up. What I really have trouble with is getting a piece up from the bottom layer, or flipping an edge.

All help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

I look for sets where they can be matched easily (like just Dw), look above that pair and find just one edge, hold onto that and look for its pair then match the 4 edges into 2 edge pairs.

I know, it doesn't make much sense, but I tried.

I dropped over 30 seconds by switching to this method (And I was getting around the same times as you)

I started practicing this type of edge pairing and I find it AWESOME. I also mix it with 2-edge pairing with the Dw R U' R' Dw' as I find necessary, but the thing I like about it is that it seems to mostly skip getting weird edges in the last 2 edges. (It tends to be the last 3 edges for some reason)

Anyway, I find recognition and look-ahead REALLY easy, and I still suck at it... But I average under 1:45 with it right now and I only switched like 2-3 weeks ago. I was averaging around 2:15 before.

Give it some time, but try it out. I really like it.

Here's the introduction video that explains how to do it:
