[Help Thread] 2x2 Discussion

L D' L F2 L' D L'

For all angle PBL, here's my list which I've genned but haven't completely learnt:
Code:
Solved on U, bar in:
B - R' F' R2 U' R' U2 F R U R' F2
L - R2 U' R' U L' U2 R U' R' U2 (x')
R - Don't have this
F* - F R U' R' U' F R2 U' R' U R' F'

Adj on U, bar in:
B - R2 U' R2 U2 F2 U' R2
L - F2 U R2 U2 R2 F2 U' F2
R - F2 U' F2 U2 R2 U' R2
F* - R2 U' B2 R2 U2 R2 U R2

Diag on U, bar in:
B - R' F U' R2 U F' R
L - R2 U R2 U' R2 U R2 U' R2
R - F' R F' R2 F U' R
F* - L D' L F2 L' D L'

Diag on D:
Solved on U* - F R' U2 R U' R' F U2 R2 F R2 F'
Adj on U* - R' U R' F2 R F' R
Diag on U* - R2 F2 R2
The * algs are the ones that should be learnt first and used as a main alg (ie if you have a bar on D, have it on F). Some of them will be slightly pointless/avoidable, so if there are any you don't like, just don't get them.

I don't get the point of the algs for solved U face because it seems to me you just do some U move, J perm or whatever appropriate alg, then AUF. You might cut down on movecount slightly but not a lot. At least for beginners practicing getting good executing one algorithm would help more.

I suggested having different algs for swap on D face because then you avoid a x2 or z2 rotation. I also incorporated two versions of the adj-adj swap to avoid a costly y2 rotation.

Hi everyone. I can solve a 2x2 in 2 seconds and just got started in OH solving. I was wondering if anyone knew of OH algs for Ortega. I have done just regular Ortega OH but it takes a very long time. I am a left handed solver by the way. Respond if you have any algs for this. Thanks!

so if x2 R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' D F2 R2 is the variant of R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' D R2 PBL diag on bottom layer, why not x2 R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' U R2 F2 as a kinda awkward variant of R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' U F2 :D

another wack alg I came up with for adj swap on left: R2 U' R' F R' F2 R U' R' F2 and on bottom: R2 U2 R2 U' R' F R' F2 R U' R' F2 U2 R2

I average 6.5 seconds with ortega
is it worth doing things like oll prediction and tracking bars or should I just learn LBL with CLL
my recognition is horrendously slow

OLL prediction and tracking bars would deffo help, I got sub 5 with Ortega using these techniques. Although if you want to learn CLL, go for it! Ortega would probably take less practice to improve, because you can just do a ton of solves, but CLL is more worth it in the long run.

My view:

Ortega
-Easy to improve
-Not many algs to learn
-Better for the short run

CLL
-algs
-Could take a lot of time to improve
-But as a result, has more room for improvement
-Better for the long run

It was fairly easy for me to improve as well, but my point was that it could take a while depending on your current layer efficiency and ability to learn algs.
I don't know too many algs. I know one or two for each OLL and PBL. I can usually learn one or two algs at once just by practicing them.
I'm not great at first layer building. I watched the video by cyotheking that gave me a lot of good ideas but I still can't plan it out in inspection. Like my 3x3 cross sometimes I can't even plan it out in inspection.

I know a lot of time loss comes from bad recognition but I think some of it has to do with poor alg execution as well. My diag swap PBL takes me like 2 seconds to execute and sometimes my J perm does too.

So if I were to learn CLL is there a suggested order of algs to learn? Like in PLL I would learn the easiest ones first.

I've been slowly lowering my Ortega times by trying to predict OLL and remembering the bar from the first layer (I made sure all my OLL cases didn't affect the bottom layer, i.e. they work for LBL). When it's easy sometimes I try to make one full layer as practice which also gives me a PLL skip 1/6 times (way higher chance than 3x3 OLL skip or PLL skip)

Also I was thinking for the adj swap on bottom case, such as the R' T perm R2 or R' J perm R2, it can be converted to a diag-adj swap using R2 F2 R2 like Anti-CLL.

For example: layer on top, bottom bar in front: R2 F2 U' R2 U R2 U' R2 U R2
layer on top: bottom bar in back: R2 B2 U' R2 U R2 U' R2 U R2

Idk if these are known but it might be faster to execute than the entire T perm or J perm?

Wow, these algs are consistently faster than R’ T perm R2 for me. Plus it saves you from doing an awkward D move (if you get it from the front or back angle). This is the first time I’ve come across these algs, although I’m sure they’ve been shared somewhere before. I’m kinda surprised that these aren’t commonly known and shared in tutorials though.
