[Help Thread] 2x2 Discussion

Do any1 knows full SS for 2x2?

I'm thinking of learning this before full EG

is it worth it?

please express you opinions

I don't know it but I think your best bet is probably to learn CLL then EG, because CLL actually helps for EG. I'd imagine SS isn't much faster than Ortega, but I could be wrong.

2x2 Ortega PBL Question
Now I’m not one to post a whole discussion on a topic with this magnitude, but I’m just curious about how it’s done and if I’m doing it wrong or if there is a proper way to do it before I get a bad habit. I basically dropped cubing a few months ago, and picked it back up recently. Decided to pick up 2x2 again and I only know the LBL method for 2x2 and average about 3-7 seconds using it, but I just recently learned full PBL, and I noticed I kept using the right algorithms for cases, but it would scramble up the cube and I realized sometimes the case would be flipped upside down. I’m wondering if that happens do you just rotate the cube mid-solve? Cause that doesn’t seem right to me considering that would slow down a solve by 1-3 seconds??

I used to use PBL but switched to LBL because the cases are better. I am sub 3.5 with LBL and it is very good for avoiding rotations. I use the OLLS from Ortega as well
I am 100% more comfortable with LBL, but I stopped progressing and realized I either plateaued or I learned a better method, but I quickly realized there is 1 specific PBL case that can be upside down and I swear it’s impossible to tell your holding it right. (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)

no you don't have to rotate all the time. You should make the habit of bar on front, or no bar (risky).

If you have only the single bar on D, do F2 ALG

T PERM on bottom, D' R2 TPERM R2 D

Y PERM, rotate

LBL is worse than Ortega. It just is, no matter how you look at it. You can still be fast with LBL, but it takes wayyy more work than Ortega would

1.5-month bump
@brododragon we should start a comp for every 1 month+ bump we get a point, but it has to be a necessary bump. (That's 1 point for me!)

You literally need to learn 5 algs for Ortega:
1. Adjacent swap on top: T/J perm (you already know)
2. Diagonal swap on top: Y perm (you already know)
3. Adjacent swap on both layers: R2 U' B2 U2 R2 U' R2
4. Diagonal swap on both layers: R2 F2 R2
5. Adjacent on top and diagonal on bottom: R U' R F2 R' U R'
#3-#5 are the only ones that you need to learn.

It's on. I shall get my employees to destroy you. @ProStar @PetrusQuber @Ayce

#3-#5 are the only ones that you need to learn.
And Diag top Adj bottom
Adj bottom
Diag bottom
Also the 2x2 Diag top alg is much better than Y-perm

I'm completely aware of that, but I'm lazy and am planning to learn lots of different algs, and 2x2 isn't that high on my list

I quit, remember?
