[Help Thread] 2x2 Discussion

Is there any 2x2 algs you don't know ;) How is making 1 Look Last Slot working? Also your "Best 2x2 Algs" Doc is quite nice, thank you and the other people who helped make it.
Thanks, I finished the first 6 sets (6 algs each) of 1LLS and I'm quite happy with the algs so far. I should be done all the ones on the alg sheet pretty soon, but the last couple sets need some more work

I feel like I'm the only one asking questions here recently

How fast should one get will CLL before learning EG 1? Would you recommend me to know full CLL AUF, and 1 sided CLL recognition? What about 1 Looking?

I average 5-5.5 on 2x2 using Varasano (Ortega). Should I switch to CLL now or wait till I average around 4.5-5 or even lower?

Start learning the algs but you don't have to switch until you're comfortable with some/most/all of them, it's literally just your preference. If you're going to end up using CLL anyway, the speed you're at when you switch doesn't matter

How can he do that? Varasano uses faces not layers. Are you saying use LBL and do CLL he knows? That is what I did.

Hey @WACWCA,

I just noticed that on your spreadsheet algs for EG-1 on the Pi cases, the 4th case (starting from the left) as one very minor problem on it which is: For the third alg option that starts with F' R U R' U', that alg should have a U' before the F.

As stated before it is really minor and I am sure that anyone can figure that out on there own, but I thought that I should at least let you know. Thanks

My times are never consistent. They fluctuate from this: View attachment 9239 to this: View attachment 9240. Currently I use a mixture of LBL with a little bit of Ortega/Varasano. Now I am learning CLL, but for now I want to know: how can I make my times consistent?
I think that one of the biggest things that you can work on with 2x2 it planning most or almost all of your solve during inspection, (which is One Looking, but my way sound fancier:p). If you are doing LBL then you should be able to, or at least work on being able to plan your first layer and what OLL case you will have during inspection. Once you get pretty good at that your times should start being more consistent because you already know the first two steps and the only step that you need to think about is that last one, but since there are only two alg/cases for the last step that should be really easy to predict as you finish OLL up.

Okay I'm like 4 algs away from being done with EG-1. So far EG-1 has been pretty great. However, after I finish up, I will know 84 2x2 algs. What should I work on next (after of course EG-1 is feeling good)? Should I "learn" anti CLL? I would like to take my alg count above 100. Would LEG-1 be better than say the nice EG-2's or TCLL's? I know this post is kinda all over, but any help is appreciated.

Hello everyone!

So I am just wondering what would be a good way to improve on 2x2?
I officially average 5.54s on 2x2 with an official single of 3.58 (my unofficial scores are better than this) however to get these scores I used an advanced beginners method which i developed, I have learnt ortega last year however I was never able to do that well with it, would the only way for me to improve be learning new alg sets or what?

Thank you for all the help!

I have the same issue. I average like 6 seconds in a comp but unofficially I average roughly 5 seconds.
