[Help Thread] 2x2 Discussion

I'm basically sub-2, and I haven't learned much of it. I guess you could whenever because lots of the cases are just Anti-CLL, and there aren't too many cases which make you want to learn an actual alg.

meh. I might as well get to it now even though im still like 2.5 with EG1. 1 month of summer left, so I have time, and if I dont learn it by the end of summer, I wont have enough time until next summer :p.

when do people usually start learning EG2?

EG-2 algs are quite nice(albeit some cases just plain suck), but as people pointed out the whole set isn't for everyone. Some Anti-CLLs do suck, so probably the best option is to learn the Anti-CLLs for the cases that annoy you when they pop up. And plus there are more productive things to then to learn more algs for a dumb event :p

So this might be just a stupid idea of mine, but IMO this seems to be the most logical way to go about learning full EG.

Since most people start with Ortega, to me, it doesn't seem as logical to learn CLL first. Instead, what I think might be a better idea is to learn the same CLL case, but also learn both the EG-1 and EG-2 algs. This should allow for a better transition from Ortega to full EG, because you can continue building faces and just do Ortega if you don't know the case.

That being said, this method definitely has its drawbacks, so I'm not sure if this is how I'll (eventually) go about learning it (hopefully).

I was thinking about starting to learn CLL as I'm a bit bored of Ortega, even though I'm not very good at it yet, and I was thinking that learning just CLL would mean I have to go from making faces to making layers. My approach was perhaps if I can see an easy layer go for it and use CLL and if there's an easy face just do it with Ortega. This approach, though, leaves you with LBL once you go for a layer but still don't know the CLL case you end up with, which I didn't like much.

Your idea of learning the same CLL, EG-1 and EG-2 cases at the same time seems interesting for me because you can just do a face and deal with what you get after that with either CLL/EG or Ortega. I think I'm going to try this approach.

Well good luck with it! It also reduces that huge mental burden for me, because instead of seeing it as 120+ algs, I see it as learning 3 different algs for 42 cases.

Only issue I have got into while doing an initial check on the alg set is that EG-1 algs are for bar on the back, while my Ortega alg is for bars in the front, so I should learn PBL algs with bar on the back so that I can avoid rotations or D2.

should I learn AUF along with learning eg1 or just practise and learn the AUFs while solving/practising?
also do you recognize antisune cases from the back or from the front? I saw Jay recognizing them from the back, wondering if this is better?

Don't worry about AUF for now. You can pick up some of them here and there for solves.

I do both; neither is better.Learning both isn't that hard so I recommend just learn to use both of them.

Can someone help me On my 2x2?

Ok so for my rubik cube 2x2. I watched this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRYAhYtqL84

But at the last algorithm it doesn't work for me some how For the last algrithem he told me to connect the orange to the other orange and i connect it but when i try to do the last algrithm i keep GETTING THE SAME THING. CONNECTING THE ORANGE AGAIN AND AGAIN.

I watched that video and I've never seen that algorithm before, maybe it's a beginner's method I've never learned.
Try this instead: Hold the cube with the completed layer on the bottom and the 'bar' in the top layer on the left. Then do R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F'. This is called a T-perm.
If there is no bar, do F R U' R' U' R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R F'. This one is a Y-perm.
Hopefully this helps.

I have no motivation to learn CLL

Hey, I have a question, so basically I started to learn CLL on 2x2, and I have down the Pi and H sets pretty well, and the Sune set kinda well. I know how to memorize algs and recognize cases. I just don't have any motivation to finish learning CLL, but I really want to know all the algs. Help?
