4x4 Weird Corner Problem

Hello! I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I came across this problem in my new 4x4 that I couldn't find anything on the internet. Every so often when I'm solving the first layer, all 4 corners are not orientated correctly even I do the same algorithm I always do for the corners. It doesn't happen all the time, but I don't know what to do to fix it? I usually end up just mixing it up again and hope it doesn't show up. I'm not sure if anyone has this problem before either? I attached a picture to show what I mean though. Is there an algorithm to fix it? anyway thank you for reading!

Your centers are solved in the wrong order. Carefully compare to a 3x3.

Like uberCuber said, your centers are wrong. In clockwise direction, you can see green, then yellow, then red. But you have to place them as green, red, yellow. The "white opposites yellow, red opposites orange and blue opposites green" is not enough.
Here is a quick algorithm to fix that:
r2 R2 E2 r2 R2 E2

Ah I understand it now. I always just heard having white opposite of yellow etc. Thank you :)

I want to get a lot better at 4x4 and 5x5.

I average 2:30 on 4x4 and 6:00 on 5x5

My 3x3 average is around 23 seconds.

I know I can get faster and I tried Yau.

Yau seems very complicated and it is hard for me.

I'm not sure what to do.

Any good Yau tutorials or other fast 4x4 methods?

I average around 1:25 with reduction and i find it hard to get better. My splits are around 15-45-25. What are the ways I could improve? I pair three edges at once.

I have been doing 4x4 for around 8 months now and I am stuck at getting sub-50. I average around 52 on a good day or when I am warmed up. Do any of you have tips or tricks for achieving sub-50 with Yau? It is quite frustrating being stuck in the 50 second mark :p

I've been solving 4x4 for a few weeks now, and for the past week I've been trying to learn Yau. All the videos on YouTube are confusing to me. Even cubers like CBC's videos are confusing to me. Does anyone know a website that helps with Yau Method? Also, can anyone help explain CBC's 4x4 edge pairing video in more detail to me? The thing I'm really having trouble with is making the centers after making the three white edges and then keeping the white edges together when pairing up the non-white edges/ keeping the white egdes in their place. Thank you for all your help!

Also, should I try Hoya Method?

After you make the three white edges, hold the 4x4 so that the white centre is on the left, and the three white edges are at BL, DL, and FL. You then restrict your moves to triple layer 3R turns, double layer 2R turns, R turns, M-like slice moves, and single layer U turns. L, F, B, D and cube rotations are forbidden. Solving the centres like this will keep the 3 cross edges solved. This will become really intuitive with practise and you won't even miss the freedom of having the free side that you have in redux.

To complete the last white edge, I rotate so that white is on bottom and complete the white edge just like a normal edge in redux solving. IE if one of the pieces is in the upper slot of FL, I put the other piece to the lower slot of FR. Slice, replace, slice back, place dedge in cross. I am not sure how efficient this is, but it will get your cross done reliably.

For the rest of the edges, you follow the same vague method. To start with, you can start off making just one dedge at a time to practice forming edges while maintaining cross. The pattern is always set up, slice, replace, slice back. You shouldn't disrupt any cross edges. Once you are proficient, you can move onto double pairing. This is setup, slice, replace with a piece that sets up, slice back forming a second dedge.

Once you understand this you can move onto the standard 3-2-3 pairing, and by that point you should understand the tutorials that you aren't understanding right now.

If you don't understand a lot of this post, play around with redux and yao for a bit longer until you work these things out on your own, intuitively.

How to actually get Sub 1:40 on 4x4?

I am awful at 4x4. I use yau, and I get 2 minutes average on my Aosu. I average 22 seconds on 3x3 so I'm really surprised. My centers are extremely slow. How can I get faster at 4x4 in general?

Breakdown:

Centers 50/1:00
Edges 30
3x3 30

Thanks,

Computer

Well, you can use yoshinator's "half-center" method to improve the centers.
If you are not already, learn 3-2-3 or 6-2 edge pairing.

And everyone says this, but lookahead is important. I'm being a hypocrite here, cus my lookahead is really terrible, but still.

Hey, I'm 53-54 on 4x4. I really need to get sub - 50. I use reduction 3-2-2-2-3 edges. I don't I'll switch to yau or hoya. So what is it that I can do.
I see that Yau and Hoya are very fast methods. But i can't get really good times with it.
here is a list of what you could suggest:
1. I use shengshou v5 konsta modded only. Should i buy a Weisu or Aosu?
2. I know full pll and 45 olls, should learn full OLL.
3. should I turn faster, or should I look ahead into solves?

Any more tips would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all tips.

Sukesh
