[Help Thread] Finger Tricks Discussion and Help

My apologies for my bad english, i' m 13 years old and i' m dutch.

Ok, i learned how to solve the rubik' s cube, buyed a dayan cube, now i' m trying to learn more moves. I learned layer by layer method, oll, little bit pll, and i' m busy with F2L. I also learned finger tricks, but i can' t turn fast :fp My record is 52 seconds and i know i can better, but it just won't work  Answers will be appreciated :D Greetings from the Netherlands.

(PS: "You can just keep doing the alg over and over again until it becomes really fast" & "Get general solve time faster
Just become more familiar with lookahead and other methods and as soon as your time goes down, all the practice needed to do that might cause your fingertricks to go faster at the same time." I tried these examples but they just work a little bit. An example of one of my biggest problems here "F clockwise, U clockwise", so you rolate the cube 2 times behind each other with the same finger.I hope you can help me a little bit :D)

How to Rotate Back Layer of 3x3x3 Cube (finger trick)

So i have been really wondering how to move the back layer/side of cube because its quite uncomfortable and you always have to change the position of your hands. badmephisto says to move it with your thumb but don;t know how to that! Anyone has an answer????? Also i am having a really hard time in learning the OLLs and PLLs. I have mastered F2L but have not dared to learn OLL and PLL. can anyone help me with that tooo??? THANKS!

It depends on the alg you're performing. Sometimes, I use my ring finger, or sometimes I use my index finger, like I'm doing a U. And how do people even still know about Badmephisto's videos? He has some good ones, but a lot of his material is becoming really outdated.

fingertricks for beginners method

hello guys,
I am a newbie to this forum but not to the cube. I am using beginners method to solve my cube.

Can anybody help me by explaining the fingertricks for algs of beginers method , especially for algs like algs for completing second layer ( U R U' R' U' F' U F AND U' L' U L U F U' F' )

VIDEOS WILL BE HELPFUL FOR THESE SPECIFIC ALGORITHMS

I ALSO NEED FINGERTRICKS FOR OLL AND PLL IN BEGINNERS METHOD IF POSSIBLE

thanks in advance!

It would be much easier to use R U R U R U' R' U' R' and R' U' R' U' R' U R U R - these algorithms are both rotationless and easy to memorize and execute

You don't learn fingertricks like this, you develop your own fingertricks through practice. As long as you have a cube that isn't stiff, and you realise that you should be doing U/U' turns with a flick of the index finger rather than turning each side one by one with your wrist, you're fine. Keep solving and the fingertricks will come.

If you want rotationless, you can use F' R U R' U' R' F R and its mirror. Not as easy to learn (unless you know sexysledge already, but most beginners don't), but faster, shorter and also rotationless.
Wow. I am still using Brian's algs from when i learned the beginners method for those cases. I will definitely switch over to yours. I think that Brian's algs are much better for a beginner though.

True, I use it for ZZ to preserve EO.

Finger Trick Help R U R U Etc.

I'm just getting into speed cubing and this is my first post on the forum. Hello!
Anyway

The first R U is straight forward and simple. However, when I get to the second R, I have to re-adjust my right hand to repeat the move R U. I cannot repeat this move say as fast as the R U R' U'. Is there an optimal way to position my right hand to get the R U R U move as consistent and smooth as possible? Every finger tricks youtube video I see doesn't explain this.

Thanks so much

Starting grip: left hand holding cube, right thumb on bottom, right index, middle, and ring finger on top.
Turn R.
Turn U by flicking the index finger.
Your right thumb should now be on the front, and your other right fingers on the back.
Continue to turn R once more. Now your right thumb should be on top, and your other right fingers on the bottom.
Turn U by using the left index finger to PUSH on the sticker at the Left-Back-Up corner of the cube.

You have just now turned RURU without regripping! Congrats!

Is there a way to do (RU) until solved without regripping?
