2 Questions:

I have just recently got into 4x4 (pretty much today)! My first few solves with Yau were averaging around 1:40, so I am basically slow AF. My first question is how do you memorize your "scheme" for your yau edges so you know which edge goes where relative to the ones you have already solved?

Also, I am using a crappy Vcube 4. I want to get a new one, but the weisu is pretty expensive. Is the shengshou 4x4 good enough?

You have to learn your colour scheme well. With white on U, the colours clockwise go Green-Red-Blue-Orange-Green. You have to rotate that for when white is on L, but it's not hard to remember with practise. I still have some difficulty, but I don't practise much. You should be fine if you practise enough and really learn your colour scheme.

The ShengShou is good if you mod it. Unmodded is still good, but not great. The WeiSu/AoSu are better than an unmodded SS, and the WeiSu isn't much better (although from what I've seen people say it is a bit) than a modded ShengShou.

What are the advance techniques for edge pairing? I currently only know how to pair one edge at a time. Please refer me to a video which explains it clearly and slowly. I know that the crazybadcuber has a tutorial on how he does his edge pairing, but he doesn't do a good job at how to pair the other edges while not ruining your centers.

Also, other than the wiki, are there any videos that shows you the OLL and PLL parities? Again, I know that the crazybadcuber has videos on these but I don't think that he has all the PLL parity cases in his PLL video.

Also, I have a moyu aosu, it feels a little tight do I need to tension it?

What are the the j perm algs
Ja (sometimes called L): R' U L' U2 R U' R' U2 R L
Jb (sometimes called J): R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R'

Also, a question like this should be asked in the OAQT or the request an alg thread; the answer to a question such as this can also be found by searching. There are two good websites that have many alternative algs listed for each PLL that are worth looking at.

4x4 Edge Pairing

Since no one answered me in the one answer question thread I shall make a thread to enquire on this matter.

What are the advance methods for edge pairing?

As of right now I solve the 4x4 by pairing one edge at a time, and I believe that there are edge pairing methods known as the 6 cycle method and the reduction method right? What are these, and are there any video tutorials for them? I would prefer video tutorials, text is harder to understand as it's hard for me to visualize it.

In addition, how would you incorporate these edge pairing methods with the yau method?

Also, I am using a Moyu Aosu, I plan to lube it soon. But what about tensioning? Does it require tensioning? IIRC, the centre is connected to the core, so does tensioning even make a difference? If you do need to tension it, how will you know which tension is best for you?

Because he didn't quote you, I think you may have missed this. It seems to be in response to your post (He really should've quoted you after two days).

Also, a Youtube search for "4x4 edge pairing tutorial" yields a couple good results.

Assuming you're using reduction (all centers -> all edges -> 3x3), then I would recommend cityzach's video which is the 4th or 5th result. If you're using Yau then cyoubx's video should be good for you. Disregard Rob's World, I believe he teaches what you already do (straight 1-edge pairing)

Assuming no parity, should 45-50 second solves splits (Reduction+Cross/3x3)be ~30/15?

Also, how many moves should efficient first two centers be and how long should they take? My F2C are ~5-6 seconds, which seems slow.

30/15 sounds about right to me... cross+centers should probably be sub-20.

F2C for me is probably about 15-20 moves (???) and takes about 3 seconds. Honestly, I don't think you should worry about the speed of F2C very much, just plan as much as you can in inspection, and the speed will come with time.

Do people just memorise their color scheme from every angle or is there some trick to the centers that I don't know? I spent quite some time looking for corners to determine which center goes where.

You have to memorise your colour scheme. Most people do the same colour centres first, so you only have to know the colour scheme from one angle (e.g. if you hold white on left, the order from UFDBU is blue-red-green-orange-blue (I repeated the last one so you know what comes after orange if you decide to not start on blue).

Ugh, I'm frustrated. Doing Hoya, and sometimes, I spend 5 whole seconds pausing and frantically looking for edges to do my cross.
Any tips? Also, any tips for 3-2-3 to F2L transition?
