Wtf, do you insert your f2l pairs in like 5 seconds??
If you improve your cross, and learn 1 look OLL and PLL, you will probably be sub-15.

My F2L usually takes 7-10 seconds. (Intuitive)

My oll. Thats an interesting story actaully. Ive kinda memorized different olls and when I see one, I know which Corner OLL to do. Same with PLL, If I get one I dont know, I know that ex. if I do a T-perm here, I'll get the clockwise edge cycle after doing a U'. Im weird like that. And anyway. Im learning full PLL now, but some of the N perms are confusing me. Same with the G's. L moves scare me. Lol:p

To me, it's not the amount of moves, it's how fast those moves can be performed.
Example: (not actual cross moves) B' D R' B D' is slower than R U R' U' x3.
So, I don't really pay attention to move count. Of course, I find the most efficient cross solution, but not according to move count.

Well, you can just rotate the cube and make it all RUF instead of RBD...

I'm the same way with knowing which OCLL i will get when i do edges (I use 3 look LL, near full PLL) That's not that weird.

btw, G perms don't use Ls, I think most Ns do though. Use the first alg on all of the gperms on the wiki. Some people use LU inverse/mirrors of G's, but **** that, RU is the way to.

I avg about 25 and my cross is quicker than yours (2-4 sec) but my f2l lookahead is just starting to improve. Good luck, practice BLD cross and always plan out atleast 3 of the cross peices and follow the fourth if you can't plan the whole thing (what i do)

Badmephisto has (in my opinion) the best algs for g's. I memorized them in an hour. and they are easy to recognize. no L's period on most of his pll algs. and as for the cross... the 3 color rule is good. and I say just plan the first 3 pieces if you can't figure out the first. just don't sweat the cross practice practice practice. and then.. practice some more because if you don't you start to suck again.

I can usually do the first 3 parts of the cross easily. But, I loose track of that last piece and find myself doing tons of Y's and then finally finding the piece. It may have something to do that im using a white cube and the black and blue are very close in normal lighting. I may change out the black for some chrome stickers.

It's easy to keep track of where exactly is the 4th cross edge. I can't plan out the entire cross either (only the first 3 pieces) but while arranging them I always keep track of the fourth one so I can insert it finally without having to search for it. I average just below 5 secs on the cross.

Well done.

The key is to not watch your other cross pieces. You already know what's going to happen. Why are you looking at it? This also applies to F2L. Once you overcome this your times will start dropping.

want to get faster!!

maybe you should watch some videos on youtube on advanced x-cross
personally, my avg is just about 45s because i am new. Still, i have my cross done for 6-8s like u:p, using layer by layer and fridrich 2-look oll and pll:o

Faster method for cross?

Hi all!

I use the beginner's method to make a cross (first get all white edges to the yellow layer, then match one white edge up with center color, turn it down to the white layer, and do that for all 3 remaining white edges). I know: :fp

I know there are lots of better methods out there, but I can't seem to find tutorials on how to make the cross faster. Anyone have hints or a good video that shows better methods?

Thanks in advance!

Just skip the step where you put all the white edges on the yellow layer and put them where they need to go directly.

Play around and figure things out. Really, this is the easiest, most intuitive part of solving a cube. It's never going to take you more than 10 moves. If you need a tutorial to hold your hand and walk you through this part, I don't know what hope you have for the rest of your cubing career.

:( Well. I tried that but then I can't get the centers to match up with the white edges.

well there is no other method, but this video could help you

This is basically what I used. I didn't really follow the color scheme thing so much. First I look at the bottom and see if anything is on the bottom layer and, if there is, how many moves and which direction does it need to go to line up correctly. For example, if orange is on green I know the bottom layer needs to be turned clockwise once. Then I try to find anything else that can be placed easily where when I do the one down turn it lines up on the correct color. Also if something needs two turns, like orange on red, is there anything I can place after I do one move of the down layer. Next step is turning bad edges into good ones at the same time you place pieces.
It's not hard to get your move count below 9 or 10 pretty easily.

I don't really have a set way. I just look at the case and...solve it. I can't really explain what I look for, just pretty much anything that stands out.

I learnt this from Tyson Mao and used it in the beginning. It is easy to do but won't work well if you are trying to get fast because of the extra moves.

I JUST CANT REMEMBER THE CROSS!!

my record is 45 sec.
my avarage something like 55.
why?

My cross!! i always confuse to do the cross on my had
i just try again and again

Do you have some tips?
