Going with how it turns when the stickers are facing you is pretty retarted, yes. Since when you're turning a D face you'll never have it facing you in the first place. It's just super counter-intuitive.

anyway, I guess I'll just rewrite the algorithms in a book for myself. I don't think I can re-learn this at this point.

Firstly, do you know any words other than 'retarded'?
Secondly, what's so counter-intuitive about doing the same thing for all six sides? Imo it would be even more illogical to not be consistent.

How about L and R? You're facing the front, so how can you possibly know which way should be clockwise and counterclockwise.

Counter intuitive doesn't necessarily mean bad or wrong. It's very counter intuitive to think the Earth is hurdling around the sun, but it's true.
 
Problems with PLLs

I've recently been learning the PLLs. There are some that I am very slow at (5-6 seconds). Should I practice these PLLs more or will they just naturally get faster as I use them in solves?
 
They will just naturally get faster. Check out some PLL videos on YouTube. Some people use different ones because they are faster than others. I used to do a U perm that included M slices, but switched it to another one later on. I've done this with quite a few OLLs as well.
 
I think I've found fairly good algs for all the cases. What's slowing me down is just the fact that they're not really ingrained yet.

My T-perm, which I've known for a long time, is sub-2. The other algs which are derivative from the T-perm (Jb, F), and the A, U, H, and Z are fairly fast as well. All the rest are slow, basically.

I'll just keep using them in solves and let them improve on their own. Still, it's a good thing the N-perm rarely comes up, haha.

It would be very convenient if there were a program which allowed you to input your own diagrams and algorithms for the OLL cases. Does anyone know if such a program exists?

I know there are multiple programs out there that if you type the algorithms in cube notation it will animate what it looks like, and the results.
I don't remember the name of it. I found it in a website that explained the Roux method, and there was a animated program that you could input your own programs.

If I were you I'd just do it the dumb way... look it up.
 
No, I mean that I am going to get my OLLs from a variety of sources - webpages, Youtube videos, and the like - and I want to consolidate them all into my own list.

If there is no program for it, is there a way to insert cube diagrams into a Word document or something?

Ohhhhhh I see, try Microsoft Excel
It's an organizer program.
I'm pretty sure you can only organize text and pictures on it though, but try it out.
 
Use paint :)
Take your screenshot, re-size it to get the diagram in, use the text function to place name and notation. Try to make it big enough to read, but small enough so you don't have to print too many pages.

The URL changes what the image shows. So click on each image and look at the URL to see how it was done.
 
Faster OLL and PLL recognition and execution

How does one get faster OLL and PLL recognition and execution? Is it by the algorithms used or some other thing?
