[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

You won't.
zz, worth the hassle. :p

Does anyone know the average movecount for zz-d porky v2?
Also, how helpful is y-axis neutrality?

I think y-axis neutrality is basically the same as opposite cross in CFOP. It opens possibilities for better EOlines. I guess it would be best to start learning y-axis neutrality as soon as possible so you have more time to get used to it. :D

I totally made that quote my signature :D

you guys do realise you have to put my name on it if you quote me, right?

I'll go do that xD

I've been trying to force my solve one block, then the other block during OH, while sometimes making exceptions.

Do you guys think this is a good idea? I think it will pay off in the long run.
By block do you mean a 2x2x1 piece or the whole 3x2x1? I personally do one 3x2x1 block first about 90% of the time unless something too good to resist pops up this makes for solving the other side really smooth and can lead to great look ahead imo of course I'm not sure if it's actually the best way to go about things

it's more efficient for open-slotting to do 1 side at a time, without interruptions. you can also positively effect this during EOLine

I'm sorry open slotting? Please explain.... And completely unrelated but what's your main method now Heise, Petrus, or still ZZ?

oh okay lol I've been using open slotting forever just didn't know it had it's own technical name

Tips for remembering EO after inspection and how to optomize 6+ badedges
Try to plan just EO in inspection, that way you don't need to remember it. If you're new to ZZ then don't try to plan the full EOLine yet.
To do 6 edges: orient three of them and misorient a fourth. That should leave you with four bad edges, which you can then orient at the same time
8 edges: I just look at the four oriented ones, get them into the S layer and do F B'
10 oriented edges: get the two oriented edges into the S layer, do F B', orient last two (or orient 4 edges and then do the method for 6 edges)
12: do a y rotation :p If that doesn't help, then I do F B' and that leaves me with 4 edges left.

imagine the cube is a voodoo doll of someone you dislike (I recommend using certain argumentative people on this forum). Then, imagine sticking sharp needles into that doll in the positions of your bad edges. if the UR edge is misoriented, imagine stabbing the doll in the right shoulder. If the DL edge is misoriented, stab an imaginary needle right through the doll's left foot.

Then, when you put the cube down to start the timer, just remember which part of the mean person's body should be in terrible pain.

this will also help relieve stress and tension in your own life.

Thank you for that tip, I don't have to buy a punch bag anymore !

So I've done about 50 solve now and I'm already getting the feel with eo I think next week I'll be able to plan it out and maybe add line !

Any EO alg sets? I cant seem to do it intuitively. Very well that is. Normally takes about 20 moves for EO and 4 for the line.

I don't think there are any, plus learning EO algorithmically is awful. There are a lot of cases. If you stick to it, you will be able to do EO well.

I recommend checking out some example solves on youtube to get an idea of what an EOline looks like.

Yeah, but i mean just like how to put them into the F and B faces so i can do F/F'/B/B' to make them good edges. Also, I have an eidetic memory, so the algs wll be easy.

If I want to put a misoriented edge piece on F or B, you can apply one of these 12 algs:

U
U'
U2
R
R'
R2
L
L'
L2
D
D'
D2

I hope that helped

How do you guys deal with the case when on your very last pair insertion the corner is already solved? I'm trying a couple of ways to deal with it but I kinda hate them all:

For the front right corner solved, place the edge on UF then:
R U' R' U R U R' U2 R U R'
or
R' U' R' U' R2 U R U R

Place edge on UB:
F' R U R' U' R' F R
(even though there's F moves in it edge orientation is preserved, but it's terrible when the last slot must be inserted in the B face).
