It's not supposed to make sense or be practical, it's supposed to be fun.Current Square-1s aren't cubic to beginn with. But even without speed in mind it doesn't make sence to have a narrow slice and wide layers.

You really gave them a demonstration of your skills. Congratulations!Today there were some tween boys hanging out on the picnic tables right outside where I go to the gym. They had three cubes; a Rubik's brand 3x3, a random stickerless convenience store brand 3x3, and a random stickered 4x4. After some deliberation during my set at the gym, I decided to go up to them and try hold down a conversation about cubing.
Firstly, they had left their 4x4 (and nothing else) on the picnic table and went off to do hang out on some benches, so I went up and solved the 4x4 to the best of my ability (I still don't know any parity algorithms). After that, I went up to one boy trying to teach his friend how to solve. He was almost done going through an example solve, they just had a U perm at the top left to do. He was saying that his friend should always have white at the bottom and yellow at the top. I, being the pedantic a-hole that I am, begged to differ.
Me: "That's not necessarily true..."
Boy 1"He's teaching me in a different way!"
Me: "Okay sure, but that different way could end up slowing you down in the future." (because if I hadn't become dual colour neutral from the beginning, I doubt I would have at all)
Boy 2: "What's your fastest time?"
Me: "Like.... 10.13?"
Both boys"WHATTTTTT? BRO THERE AIN'T NO WAY. AIN'T NO WAY."
So they do a very easy (1 pair already solved) hand scramble and watch me do it pretty quickly with a relatively slow TPS. They start calling over their parents and all their friends to watch me, and- well- obviously I felt very flattered to see a skill I've been practicing for so long be so impressive to them, but it's also very nice to see younger kids be excited about cubing. I remember when I used to be like that (like 4 years ago...). It's a good feeling, and I hope all those boys get to live out their speedcubing goals.
dude your not the only one I remember that I was on holiday and cos I'm in the UK I went toYou really gave them a demonstration of your skills. Congratulations
Probably not, as the odds are 1 in 429.981.696.Has anyone gotten a clock scramble where one side has all the clocks pointing in one direction
Yes actually hahaHas anyone gotten a clock scramble where one side has all the clocks pointing in one direction
I’m booking the next flight to denverI just bought 50 YLMs to pass out on Halloween. I wonder how long they'll last!
There's no purpose to this post. I'm just excited.

I would be so happy if I got a YLM while trick or treating.I just bought 50 YLMs to pass out on Halloween. I wonder how long they'll last!

This is so nice of you. I wonder how many of the people who get these will get into cubing.I just bought 50 YLMs to pass out on Halloween. I wonder how long they'll last!

I get that. I'm now at a point in life where i can spend the cash and not stress. I like to donate toys to children's hospital during charismas time and such so this is just another version of that. I've never regretted dollars spent donating toys to kiddos. This is so nice of you. I wonder how many of the people who get these will get into cubing.
On another note: there is no way I would spend $255 to give non cubers cubes. I would just pass out candy and save the difference for some new cubes.
Yeah, if I'd have thought of it sooner i would have done that. YLM is life though so i have no regrets about this.I would’ve ordered meilongs from China. It’d be like $1 each.
That’s awesome man!I can happily report that passing out to 50 YLMs to random suspecting victims dressed up as children was the most fun I've ever have ever had donating toys to kiddos!!! I just "Oprah'd" cubes as we walked the streets trick-or-treating today. "Hey, do you want a Rubik's cube?!?!?!...in my cube costume"
Some Stats:
49/50 said "Yes" to whether they wanted a cube or not
46/50 were genuinely stoked when i unsuspectedly handed them a cube today!
3 people exclaimed they already knew how to solve it!
1 kid said they already had a YLM
Someone told me "Bruh, you won Halloween"
1/1 nerds has zero regrets about the cube spreading that happened today.
