[Help Thread] Pyraminx Discussion

That's LBL. Just keep practicing with that until you're around 7-9 seconds. Then either learn Intuitive L4E or some Top-First methods(both ways are equally good). Past that it's just practice. Right now, just practice and try to efficiently solve the first layer and to try to solve tips better(solve them throughout the solve instead of all at once).

Also, BECOME CN RIGHT NOW. In Pyraminx, it could save you 1-3 seconds easily. Just pick whatever color seems best to start on

I am at 20 second o pyraminx and I am trying to get faster.I just am not able to find any turtiorials that make me faster. How i solve my praminx is sove the tips then connect all the yellow tips then solve the yellow side then solve the whole pyraminx
It's basically all TPS with LBL. I'm sub 7 with the method you use(however i am colour neutral and don't do tips in a particular order). Learn some advanced techniques like tip fingertricks and inserting 1st or 1st and 2nd edge with a center.

Here is some advice.
#1: Wait until you are sub 10 before learning a different method. LBL is mostly how fast you can turn once you get sub 10.
#2: Learn the 5 LL cases. They aren't hard, and they will help you a lot.
#3: Learn Intuitive L4E. It has so much potential, yet is so easy to learn. Z3 has a good tutorial here
#4: Grind: Pyraminx is an event where TPS is needed. Practice being as efficient as possible while keeping TPS from 2-5.
#5: After you have gotten your averages between 3 and 4, learn Top First methods. Some solutions are better for one or the other.
This may seem like a lot, but this is a really good path from where you are right now. Hopefully this was helpful :)

Hello! I decided to learn the pyraminx two days back and was really suprised how easy it was. I currently use the LBL method and average around 13 seconds with a personal best of 6.54. Can I average sub-10 on the pyra with LBL? I don't want it to be one of my main events but I feel I can get faster. Is there some other techniques/tips in LBL that might help me? I average around 12 on the 3x3 for reference.

Yes it is definitely possible to do that. One thing that helps tremendously is being CN on pyraminx, it is way easier that CN on 3x3 and saves lots of time. Learn all the last layer cases if you haven't already, there are only 5 and they are super short. Don't always do the tips first or last, do them throughout the solve when it is easiest to do so. Don't restrict yourself to doing centers then edges when building your layer, instead learn to block build your layer. Most importantly, practice! Hope this helps!

I am CN on pyra. I really have no idea about block-building and stuff on the pyra as I am a complete newbie. Also i always solve the centers 1st, then align the tips and insert the edges and then finally solve LL. I guess I will have to be a bit flexible at that. Also my turning is complete sht, but with practice its improving.

I love pyraminx. Its my best event and i would to love to practice to become world class at the event. I tried learning top first and dont enjoy it as much as l4e. Is it possible to be world class with only intuitive l4e or will top first have to come with it.

The best of the best are using both top first and v first so if you really want to be among the best then you’re going to have to be good with both. You can probably get pretty far with just v first, but you’ll always be handicapped compared to those who do both.

So some scrambles would be good for v first some top first. I can deal with doing top first half the time. I know keyhole. Is that method sufficient or should i learn oka to accompany it

It's up to you, knowing oka would is definitely beneficial but it might not be necessary

It depends on how good you want to get. If I were to go for being world class I would learn full v first L4E, 1 Flip, Oka, WO, Nutella, and Bell at the minimum since the more methods you know, the more you’ll be able to capitalize on lucky cases.
