How to average sub-3 (or 4) sec on pyraminx?

Right now I average mid to low 4 sec on pyraminx, and my pb ao5 is I believe 2.95 sec. I use intuitive L4E and right now am not color neutral. Any advice on what to learn or do to achieve sub 4 or faster would be greatly appreciated! (I'm also wondering what method most top solvers use and the alg count)

Thanks!

I'm not personally that good at pyraminx, but there are two things that immediately stand out in your description. First, you should definitely look into full algorithmic L4E, since that becomes more important the faster you get. You should also become colour neutral, it's only 4 colours it's not that difficult. Then you should be able to 1-look at least your V on every solve, and be able to 1-look on easier scrambles. You need to make sure your L4E algs are the best for you, with good fingertricks and ergonomics for your turning style. Also make sure your Vs are very efficient, use the website attached where you can practice inspection and choose solution length, and practice the longer/harder Vs. You also want to make sure your hardware is good too, so either a YLM, though they vary in quality, or the Weilong, most people prefer the spring version since the maglev is too fast, but that's personal preference so if you like faster cubes then get the maglev. Or maybe you already have good hardware, then just focus on your solution quality with better Vs and drill your L4E algs a lot. The website attached also has the option for you to train your V, L4E, and all the other more advanced algsets, ML4E and TL4E. But from the looks of it, ML4E is going to be better to get sub-4 or sub-3, while TL4E is even more advanced, and definitely not needed for sub-3, or likely even sub-2. So for algsets you should learn to get sub-3, I would say algorithmic L4E, and all of ML4E, which adds up to 97 total cases, 37 L4E, and 30 for each ML4E-R and ML4E-L. If you like learning algs, then you could also check out TL4E, but for 56 and 70 algs, it's going to be a lot of effort for very little time save that can be spent on better solutions and inspection.
