the ones in aus stopped in late feb/early march (i know because we went to mcdonalds during a comp in february and got some epic toys) so i think that if they were going to the US, they would have already done so

I just went to a comp and had a guy DaYan coat my little magic, I really like it and want to know how to make it.

I'm not sure about a dayan coating but if you want something similar there is Boron Treatment that does basically the same thing by making the plastic softer.

That just sounds like what boron treatment does to the cube. The plastic coating is much harder to do than boron treatment and they yield similar results so I would go for the boron treatment approach.
