[Help Thread] Finger Tricks Discussion and Help

is cube lube required to do finger tricks? either i have very weak fingers or my cube is hard to turn. i can't tell which.

I play a 5-string bass with fairly heavy gauge strings, so I have very good finger strength. But a lot of people can't hold down a single string, they just don't have the strength. I wouldn't be surprised if some people couldn't turn a storebought too well with one finger.

My finger trick stuff that I actually use.

U - Right Index Flick
U' - Right Thumb Push with Left Index Flick
R - Right wrist snap
R' Right wrist snap
L - Left wrist snap
L' - Left wrist snap
F - Rotate then U
F' - Rotate then U'
B - Rotate then U
B' - Rotate then U'
D - Left ring flick
D' - right ring flick
M and M' - left ring push from DB and Right Index Push from UB
E and E' - Hold U and D. Push with Left middle or right middle

that is funny. i actually spent a few months trying to learn bass and i found out that i was unusually bad at it, for precisely the reason you mention. but my cube is DIY. still, maybe i will buy some cube lube.

other than that, i'll keep trying. thanks for the tips, everyone!

One finger trick I like is R2. I do ring finger then middle finger. Same goes for the L2.

Huh? But... why?

That aside, does anyone else do the hand-cover-cube R'2 U2 fingertrick? Can be used for R' U2 R and R'2 U2 R, insanely fast and smooth, I don't think the normal double trigger can ever beat this fingertrick (handtrick?).

I've recently been forcing my thumb to do R'2 U2 R U', the final U' push at the end, what do you guys think?

That's been happening a lot lately. I need to have a word with my provider. I downloaded them with no problem just now, though. Try again?

I probably shouldn't do this, but I use my left middle finger. It works for me because I only use M' for 2 algorithms, and they require a lot of (M')s.

M2 U M2 U2 M2 U M2
M' U M' U M' U M' U2 M' U M' U M' U M'

On my left hand, I put my pointer on the back left, and my thumb on the front left. The right hand does the U moves.

In the future, I will probably do M' moves with my ring or pinky. Not all algorithms have zero or several M' s.

I'm having problems with this as well, looks like Bob's method can be really fast so I'm going to practice that a bit and see where it gets me.
