Cubing hardware should not be customizable

Just because you don't see any value in it doens't mean others don't. Some people like extra customizability and are willing to pay more for it.
I wouldn't buy washing machines with Bluetooth and all those silly features because I don't care for them, I actually am puzzled as to why people would want that. But some people want those things in their washing machines and are willing to pay for them. I wouldn't oppose companies releasing versions of cubes with less features for cheaper, but they don't have to stop selling customizable cubes to those who want them.

Customizability only has 1 downside and that is the price. If you don't want to pay extra for a customizable cube then don't. The performance of modern cubes is so good that we are basically at the ceiling for 3x3 so the next direction to go is to make the "Perfect" cube in terms of feeling, speed, magnets, etc. I really enjoy the customizability of modern cubes like the WRM where you can have 18 different spring strengths and you can find what fits best for you.
obvs i dont mean crap cubes like rubiks brand, and how is valk customizable?
its still 30$ which is more expensive then cubes like rs3, wuwei, mgc elite and valk
compleatly fkin agree man
That does not make sense, a "perfect cube" cubes by the feel, not making the magnets stronger or some crap, it is a chap trick, look at valk elite and gan x, making u pay for all those magnets when your only gonna use one.

I can understand double posting if you forgot to leave something out of your first post, but there is no excuse for a quadruple post. I (and just about everyone else) also find that different magnets can make a cube "Perfect" for someone and that it's not, in fact, a "chap trick".

Yeah, if a 3x3 has loose springs, and/or magnets that are strong or light to the extreme there's no way it can be a perfect cube for me. But many people like loose springs so if the springs can be made tighter that means it will fit a bigger variety of people and there's less risk in buying the cube if you know you can adjust it.

But how do you know which one you're going to use? It's meant so somebody who doesn't know what they like can mess around to find their preferences, say you liked strong magnets, but there were only light magnets. You're screwed. But with customisability, you can set it to the strong setting, and everybody, whether they like strong or weak magnets will like it - all in one. Same goes for other stuff.

Language.

The Elite has magnetic swappaple centrecaps and 3 different GES like springs. The original still has screws and springs lol.

Also you can reply to everyone in one post.
so somehow every valk is the elite now?

If you don't specify what version it is we are going to assume that its the latest. If you ask someone what their main is and they say "Oh, It's a GAN", will you think of the 357? No, You are going to think of the newest generation of gan cubes.

i kind of agree, it just means if you want a flagship cube you have to pay a lot more

Customization is definitely a good thing *when done right*. I think it's good that cubes are customizable as it allows people to tune their puzzle to their preference. however, the issue arises with monstrosities like the tengyun v2, which is over engineered as heck. At some point, all the settings become too much, and they simply become tricks for increasing the price of cubes

but there IS a cube called the valk, just like if someone says weilong gts, are the other people going to think theyre talking about gts3m?

The thing is, the original Valk is still relevant. Of course when someone talks about the Valk, they mean the original. You're the weird one for assuming it should refer to the Valk Elite.

"GAN" by itself was never the name of any cube (you would call the 357 the "357", the original 356 the "356", etc.), so your comparison is invalid. And even then, most recent GAN cubes are fairly similar so even using just "GAN" to refer to all of them at once is reasonable, whereas the Valk and the Valk Elite are very different.

After seeing the tengyun v2, i really think this is too much for me. Honestly, i prefer my valk over the tengyun v2 because i like the feel. Companies should stop using cheap tricks to make you pay more
If a cube's base design works for you that's cool but it's easy marketing for companies to make cubes that can fit a majority of buyers with customization

I like customizable cubes because most cubes nowadays are meant for lighter turning styles, but I'm not the lightest turner so I am a fan of being able to tighten the springs.
