i got taught to just pick any colour ever sine my first, step 1: solve one phase; step two: solve the first layer. i think people who want to learn to solve it should learn to be colour neutral right away but people who have been practicing for years without it, maybe should not, but i would say right now you should become colour neutral it really helps in the long run

Do more untimed solves. If you just do timed solves, you won't improve as quickly.

Colour Neutral Help!

I need to be colour neutral. Please tell me how! I just go off track and start solving on white every time I try. Please give me a plan to follow so I can be colour neutral please!

If you're seriously having this much trouble solving on colors other than white, force yourself. Pick a random color each scramble (maybe by throwing the cube into the air) and solve the cross on that color, then F2L with that color on bottom, and so on. Don't try to get the best time, just do it no matter how long it takes.

It took me a week to be fully colour neutral.

All I did was all none white colour crosses focusing on one colour a day unless I saw something like a 4 move Xcross on a different non-white colour.
So something like this:
Monday: Orange cross only
Tuesday: Blue cross only
Wednesday: Red cross only
Thursday: Green cross only
Friday: Red/Orange Cross only
Saturday: Blue/Green Cross only
Sunday: Blue/Green/Orange/Red cross only.

Then for about a week after that I did colour neutral solves and tried to check out all non-white colours out first. By the end, of that week I was comfortably colour neutral with no weaknesses on any colour. I knew full OLL/PLL too and I never had any problems with LL recognition either.

Try out that and you should be CN in two weeks max. Oh and during the first week make sure you are doing Ao50 each day minimum.
