I average 01:xx (xx is usually between 1 and 15 seconds)

I want to consistently sub 1. And eventually, consistently sub 30.

I know intuitive F2L, all + (cross) OLL cases, and about 2/3 of the PLL cases.

Should I just finish learning the PLL cases and OLL cases, and then worry about speed, or is there something else I should do to improve?

Should I learn F2L algorithms?

Also, right now I'm using a standard, Rubik's brand cube. I plan to get a new cube, though. Should I get a Gouhong or a Dayan Zanchi? Or something else? (something that cuts corners and has minimal locking is preferred)

F2L algs for hard cases, and cases that you're using too many moves on
Work on F2L (lookahead) mainly, while learning the rest of PLL at the rate of about 1 or 2 per day
You can get by with how you're doing OLL, I recommend to start learning all 57 at about sub 20ish
Learn partial edge control to avoid dot cases because you're doing 2-look (look up VHF2L, or learn how Sledgehammer + variants work)

Can you link me to a good place to learn this?
The wiki entry was helpful, but it's just not clear enough.
I'd also prefer it to be written, with diagrams, rather than a video.

VHF2L is simply LL edge control done algorithmically. You could, therefore, just influence LL EO during your last pair intuitively.

I wouldn't recommend learning/attempting VHF2L though until you get regular F2L sorted.
Now, the main tip is to work on F2L ONLY. Go as fast as you can without hesitating! No matter how slow! Trust me, it's not only faster than pausing lots, but also develops some great skills.

Do not get a guhong or zanchi! I avg 19.00-21.00 eith a guhong but for you they will be to fast for look-ahead.cI also have a Zanchi but it it to fast for look-ahead even for me so it will be much to fast for you.

(eith)=with

(cI)=I

1. Don't make it seem like controlling a fast cube won't benefit in the future.
2. When it is too fast, you should turn slower, obviously, or tighten it.
3. Edit your posts rather than correcting your spelling/typographical errors.

Agent, If you wish to learn algorithms, find some for your weak spots in F2L.

PLL is much simpler than learning OLL, mainly because there are less algorithms and 2 look PLL involves more moves.
Cross to F2L transition is also a good thing to practice, so just learn proper F2L+PLL and do full solves until you improve.

I don't think "too fast" is a reason to not get a cube. It is possible to force yourself to go slow on a fast cube. One thing I've lately been doing that's really been helping is cubing to a metronome. As I get better at making one move per tick, I increase the metronome's time. This has been very instrumental in helping my lookahead.

Just as a side note, you can edit typos without making new comments :)

EDIT: ninja'd

I recommend the ZhanChi, and I recommend getting it as soon as possible. I started cubing a few years ago with a Rubik's brand cube, and the bad turning habits I developed as a result of the poor performance of the "name brand" cube took a very long time to break. I think everyone should start with at least a "decent" cube.

Agreed. But get the guhong instead, before you get the zhanchi.

I was at your speed weeks ago but got Down to sub 35 now. Using 4 look LL and the cfop system. don't learn vhf2l, it's way to advance for your speed.

Anyway, practice a lot. Minimal your f2l moves to below 40 and make sure I can be completed at about 25 secs, nt hard really just practice .

I could spend all day teaching you how but what would be the point? You have to go through the process yourself so u understand every bit :)
