You could just get used to cubing in a noisy environment. For BLD events it's silent anyway. If need be you could get some ear protecters
like builders sometimes where, but you might get funny looks

Yeah I personally have started using ear protection for non-BLD solves and I find it helps me concentrate even in the relative quiet of my house. It is true that you can't use electronic headphones at all regardless of whether or not they're playing music, turned on, etc.

Last night I was playing with the latest version of Tnoodle, and was able to match the colors after scrambling for every type of cube I have with the exception of the square-1. I systematically solved it and reapplied the same scramble last evening to get the same results: The shape matches, but the colors are off. I even played the scramble backwards to retreat to the initial solved position -- which verified that I did execute the scramble correctly.

Hence my question: What color scheme is assumed by Tnoodle for the square-1? The WCA regulations simply state to pick the darkest of the two possible faces where the front face shows the narrow part of the center slice on the left -- I assumed red in front and yellow up. My square-1 coloration matches the Western colorset: U L F R B D == White Orange Green Red Blue Yellow, if that helps.

Hello! I have never been to a comp before, and I was wondering if you need to bring evidence of your nationality. is this something that you are asked at your first comp? if so, what can I bring to show my nationality? would a picture of my passport work too? thanks in advance :)

I highly doubt anybody will ask you to confirm your nationality. I never had to verify mine, and I've never heard of anybody else having to.

Delegates are supposed to verify Nationality at your first competition. Plan to bring some form of identification, especially if your comp is outside the US or you have a different nationality than the country the comp is in.

Because when I slam down a cube, I want to know how much space I have for the cube to roll around in. Also, when you finish the solve, the cube has to be on the mat, yeah?

I just looked at the comp tutorial you made, and when you get called up for your attempt, do you have to find a solving station which has a scorecard, which has your name on it? Or do you just find somewhere, someone gives you a card, and you put your cube on it?

First you put your cube on the scrambling table on your score card. Then you wait. A runner comes up with your cube and calls your name. They tell you where to sit, they usually walk with you, and then you sit and solve. When you are done, you go back to the waiting area, etc. After your last solve you take your cube with you.

Oh, ok. I thought you had to find a solving station. Didn't pay attention to the scrambling station bit.
