[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

Amazing website. Being a developer myself I can highly appreciate stuff like this :) What are your ZZ times Louis? It seems you are knowledgeble at more than a few methods :) Are you allready faster at Roux than CFOP?
I used to be sub-15 with ZZ, but I haven't practised much recently, so my times are around 16. I'm not yet faster with Roux; I average around 14 with Roux and mid-low 13s with CFOP.

Strange that for some Roux is the solution to every problem and they are faster than CFOP in no time. And for others it just will not happen.. I do not think I will every become faster at Roux. But for now let's see how this ZZ works out.. :)

I think Roux is faster than CFOP if you're good at Roux, but some of my solutions are too similar to CFOP. I do have an advantage in switching later in that I have a better TPS than most other Rouxers my speed, but my blocks are bad. I think if I get decent at FB I might be able to get my Roux times below my CFOP times, but that could still take a month or two.

ZZ and CFOP are quite different to Roux, but ZZ is quite close to CFOP, so hopefully you'll improve at it very quickly :)

do you know you would be the second Marcel P. to use ZZ?

How do you deal with this F2L case? L' U' L U2 L' U2 L R U' R' U'
Corner is in the top layer with the F or B color on the U face, the edge is inserted in a slot where there's not a way to pair it with the corner in 3 moves.

I place the corner on top of the edge, take the two out (flipping the corner to get the L or R color on top), then separate and insert them: R U' R' L' U L U' L' U' L (the R' can be omitted but I do it if the cross piece is already solved in the side from where I'm removing the edge). Does anyone have a better way to do this?

If the blue-red edge and corner weren't in such an easy position, I'd do R U R' U R to break the orange-blue pair up, then U L' U' L to insert.

I would either use what AlphaSheep suggested or U R U' R' U2 R L' U L both are nine moves mines 8 if you dont count the U set up move and in this particular case it sets up the last pair quite nicely :)

U R' F2 R F2

Think outside the box brah.

In other words, use Petrus for a week. All these complexities become obvious :).
