that's neil morales. i think you should do either both roux or both zz. If you do roux 2h and zz oh, you have to practice lookahead for both, two different algs sets, etc.

I have been experimenting with ZZ for OH (because ZZ is much more optimized for OH than Roux imo), and I'd say you don't really need to learn many more algs. Many of my CMLLs preserve EO, so most of the time you can do COLL/EPLL. EPLL is just U perm (I use an RU one) and Z perm (don't yet know a RU alg) and H perm (easy). EO line just takes a lot of practice and I'm pretty slow at at. I've been doing this for only 2 days, so I'm not sure I'll switch. Been getting around 35 compared to 25 with Roux.

I do that (and I'd say Neil's done pretty well for himself). I had moderate lookahead with ZZ before I switched to Roux, and my reduced OH turn speed has made it even easier. I'm still working on lookahead for Roux, but practicing two different methods has never caused me any issues.

i would think neil would be better at 2H and 1H if he only did zz.

what's so bad about roux OH, i always thought low movecount is. very good for OH so...

Awkward moves pretty much. Compared to ZZ where it's a lot of RU with few rotations. Although Roux is a great 2H method (and i chose it because 2H was one of my main events), imo it's pretty clear ZZ has been developed an awful lot more as far as OH goes, making it more speed optimized. I only recently have been considering ZZ because I am getting into OH solving. Granted, OH can be fast for some (Alex is sub15 for example). I guess if I work on fingertricks enough I could overcome Roux's wide and slice turns in OH. I have had to adjust my fingertricks a lot already (deviating from Japanese style).

i would say roux has the same number and same type of rotations. i would think the lower movecount would pretty much equalize the strange moves.

Hi Guys, I just finished watching Deedubs video's Roux as a beginner method.. So finally I get all the concepts of Roux. I think Roux is awesome.. But.. here is my question. I have struggled hard to become sub 20 on CFOP. It took me about 2 and half year... I want to know, are there people out here that where about at the same speed (20-ish) with CFOP and stepped on the Roux wagon? If yes, how long took it before you became sub 20 with Roux?

Don't have an answer for you(I'm a CFOP-er), but I will say that these kids have tons of time on their hands. You can't really speak in terms of months or even years. These kids do 100, 200 or even 300 solves every single day, and they do that consistent throughout the year. So the amount of improvement they make in 1 year is tantamount to 2 years or probably more to everyone else. Remember that when you get their answers. The time frame they give you will be relative and meaningless to some extent.

It took me around 6 months to be sub-20 with roux when I switched from CFOP(averaging around 25).

Considering it only took me 2 months to get from not knowing how to solve a cube to sub 20 no experience, Im guessing that since you alresady have a lot of cubing experience, it will only take you 2-3 months max. With one day of playing around with zz last week (for oh), I managed to get a 30 second ao 50 (2h). Just get your head around blocks and using any type of move to lower movecount, learn 2 look cmll (should be pretty quick for a cfop solver), and experiment with lse until you get the hang of it.

i switched at sub 25. took two weeks to catch up with roux. that's probably doing 100 timed solves a day + research and slow solves. If you already know coll, it should be a lot easier getting to 20-ish. roux very much stresses good lookahead and movecount, so that's where you should focus on if you attempt the switch.

Any tips for blockbuilding? Or a good video. My blocks take around 30 seconds.
use as much inspection time for your blocks and try to find the most efficient. Aim for 10-12 moves if you're averaging from 25.
My blocks are okay, its just that my execution on the blocks are horrible avg around 14 seconds for both blocks, majority is second block, I avg around 6-8 seconds on First block
