It took me around 6 months to be sub-20 with roux when I switched from CFOP(averaging around 25).
Wow.. nice. This clearly proves Roux has great potential.

Considering it only took me 2 months to get from not knowing how to solve a cube to sub 20 no experience, Im guessing that since you alresady have a lot of cubing experience, it will only take you 2-3 months max. With one day of playing around with zz last week (for oh), I managed to get a 30 second ao 50 (2h). Just get your head around blocks and using any type of move to lower movecount, learn 2 look cmll (should be pretty quick for a cfop solver), and experiment with lse until you get the hang of it.

Yeah I know 2 step cmll, and have found out that half the times one step is enough for all corner to be accidentailly in place ;)

i switched at sub 25. took two weeks to catch up with roux. that's probably doing 100 timed solves a day + research and slow solves. If you already know coll, it should be a lot easier getting to 20-ish. roux very much stresses good lookahead and movecount, so that's where you should focus on if you attempt the switch.

Lookahead is not an option at the moment ;) I have been Roux-ing for 2 days now. Block building the right way takes me 50 seconds.. LOL Doing F2L and undo the (m-slice) line takes me 15 secs.. LOL CMLL takes a few secs, but then correcting bad edges takes me also 10 - 20 secs.. After that step solving the cube is only a few secs.. I like how this method takes low move count. And also the block solving part is expanding my solve skills wich could help FMC for example. But.. I am color neutral on CFOP.. and CN on Roux takes me litterally minutes longer.. Oh man that is hard.. When I do just yellow on top and red on F it is much easier... Are there any CN Roux-ers? I think if I can not become CN with Roux I might never go in it all the way.

Like most other roux users I started with fixed FB to make it easier. At 25s avg I decided to go y/x2 neutral and prisma timer tells me it took 3 months to get back at 25s. The first month I was following jskyler91' advice.
y/x2 neutral is enough to be able to use most premade blocks in a scramble for the FB.

There's only one person trying CN right now, don't know what he averages, i'm feeling 17?

I feel like I need to auto-response when people say "CN" and "Roux" in the same sentence, lol.

There's a CN Roux user, Justin Harder, with a sub-14 avg 100.

I'm CN and ~30 seconds. I just learned 2 look and my times are really varied right now though because, well, new algs. Edit: also I don't practice, don't gauge CN Roux by me, please dear god. You can become CN with Roux, rest assured.

I'd say starting off cn with roux would be a good idea... it might make inspection really hectic though. if you dont like it you can always just switch to y x2 or something but if you start off with y x2 becoming cn is really hard.

OMG FIRST SUB 10 9.50 no scramble found.....it was very lucky. square solved, 3 move fb, 7 move sb, double headlights/h cmll with no corner swap, and eo skip.

congrats! looks like you're still improving pretty fast.

I wouldnt call breaking a pb progress. Just a very silly scramble. Probably sub 35 stm. I am nearing sub 14 though. Im getting a lot more 11s and 12s, and im getting mostly high 13s. Im trying something similar to what you do in your solves which is start fb slow to look ahead into sb, turn a little faster in sb to compensate for move count while still looking and predicting cmll, then spam turning the rest of the solve. My lse is now consistently sub 4 in solves.

Ok I might stick with Roux for OH...

Really the main drawbacks I see in Roux OH compared to ZZ or CFOP are the awkward moves. The CFOP and ZZ move sets are more straight forward, but I bet with practice I can get wide moves and slices in blocks to be faster. I have just adapted various fingertricks at times.

how do you do your table abuse? 5BLD way or waffle's?

yeah, same with me. but i feel like waffle's way is better because lookahead is a lot easier.

With Waffo's style, it's easier to see UF and FD, with Alex's it's a little easier to see UB and BD, but I'm not sure by how much. Waffo's style just seems really awkward and harder to keep the R face from moving. Personal preference imo. I always have to tilt my head so I can see the pieces, but it's still kinda hard to look ahead. I might try out different styles but I'm not sure it's worth it to switch.
What do you do for other turns (especially during SB)? I kinda do Japanese style turning but with a lot of weird other stuff thrown in.

Hi Guys, after getting into Roux only since a few days I have done my fist timed session. I have practiced maybe 15 - 30 minutes for the last week or so and I just did an Ao25 of 41 seconds.. Not bad, but I was hoping for much better :)

i forgot the different between japanese and north american. is it the flicky one or the pushy one? anyway, i push everything except for pinky. it seems more natural to push wide moves to me.
