[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

Okay, how about we start in 3 weeks? (I might have a late start, because I'll be moving back to Korea in 2 weeks, and I have to get settled). BTW, are you using your alg list?

You just let me know. I'll just work on my OLLs (I recently forgot a few), my FMCs, big cubes, and the 3 sets I know. Yes, I am using my document. After doing the ZZLL list I realized that lots of the algs suck some serious rear. If you come across a case you don't like, let me know (this applies to everyone but only Cride has chimed in so far- and that was 3-4 months ago). The H sets look fine though. After we get going you may hit a speedbump because of algs. But we'll settle this later.

Hopefully some other people are interested in competing for 2nd place in the ZBLL race. If you are, you have roughly 3 weeks to learn the 3 H sets (by my alg list the first 3 H COLL cases) that I learned before. I'm holding off learning any more algs so we can have a fair race. If you need algs check my sig.

I'm in. I know the whole T-set, 1 U-set and 1 H-set. I'll finish the H-set first, then move on to the U, L, Pi, Sune and Antisune cases.

EDIT: What exactly is the race for? H-set or entire ZBLL?

EDIT2: Oh I see now. I'll start learning more H now :p

You've got a little bit of a head start but that's fine. Just learn the first 3 H sets. When koreancuber gets settled back home we'll start the actual competition. Those H sets are just because I got a little bit of a head start.

Lets start in two weeks.

...Yay. But I don't want to, I still suck at EOLine/F2L!

Btw, this applies to further statements.

You've got 2 weeks to work on this and you should definitely join. It's for fun and you're going to be learning freaking ZBLL. That takes precedence over your (insignificant) EOLine if you ask me.

Me and a lot of people think ZBLL is overrated.

Also 2 weeks isn't heaps, nor is 3, or even a month, when you practise as little as I do, or practise other puzzles anyway.

We'll see how I feel when we start.

Lmao.

JTLE, anyone?
I mean, it's a great addon to ZZ.
I'm surprised it's not mentioned more often.

O_O holyshit
I've came across this set of algs before and disregarded it without hesitation.
Now this seems godly to me as it would make zzf2l easier

I dun get it. How exactly does it help at all?

I.E. Why not just solve the DR edge?

Because, it's like WV.
In WV, sometimes it's easier to solve OLL and insert the last edge/corner pair at the same time.

With JTLE, sometimes you'll get the case in which it's easier to NOT solve the DR edge, such as if pieces are already in place either in the front or the back, or maybe even both.

It's a supplement. 27 algorithms isn't that much either. It's just like having another set of WV handy.

Mmkay. I think it won't be right for everyone, because 27 algs IS a lot for some people. I could personally learn it in a couple of days, with a lot of practise afterwards, but we'll see how my COLLs go down, they're still new.

27 algs is just a phone number when you learn full ZBLL.

For as often as JTLE would be useful, I think that x' (U' D) R2 (U D') x + OCLL is pretty good. That alg can be done very fast, because you pull both the U and D faces simultaneously, and an x rotation is hardly worth mentioning (just a minor regrip).

Why not just M' U2 M?

Maybe because of this?

I thought pretty much the same thing, until I read 4Chan's post just a little bit up the page.

Actually that was reply to Matt, his way of doing inserting the cross edge seems pretty silly to me.
