[Help Thread] What should I learn next?

Others:

WV (all slots), Brooks last edge, Oriented Last Slot, WV-CP
Brooks last edge and oriented last slot? Explain plz

Maybe using your LS to skip sucky OLLs is a good idea, but I'm not a CFOPer so I'm not sure how practical that would be (but it sounds good).
EDIT: uh ignore that ^
Use your LS to solve corners completely and force out bad LL Algs?

CLS, MGLS, ZBLS, other last slot stuff. Once youre done zbll and you use zz then there isnt much point in learning much more.
he uses ZZ so ZBLS and MGLS aren't used
I would say CLS, BLE, and LSLL

I don't think WV/ZZ-c is useful because for most cases, insert+ZBLL is faster than WV+PLL

Okay. By the way, I've been trying to find out about BLE but I can't find any information about it. What is it?

Brooks last edge is when edges happen to be oriented (but ZZ, so 100%), and last slot corner is solved. BLE inserts F2L edge and orients LL corners in this case.

Oriented LS

Anthony has taken the doc off of his website, but from what I understand he has it and would probably send it to you if you message him.

Thank you for the reply. These seem quite interesting.

I suck at remember which of these sets is the same. By ZBLS i just meant last slow plus zbll so i guess thats just LSLL. Thanks for fixing that.

Hi cubers ;)

I know this thread is a classical one, but the ones who were created are pretty old and I wouldl ike to revive this topic.
I am full COLL (not sunes one) and right-handed WV (Winter variation)
I am not used to them at fast solves where I try to beat my AO5 or single PB, but, obviously, I want to improve one of them so that I can use it forever (maybe combined wwith VHLS or edge control algorithms).

I dont even have an opinion... It gaves me the feeling you have to be pretty fast recognising WV cases if you really want to improve your time. The thing changes when you see all fast-cubers use WV instead of COLL at 90% of cases and OLLCP (there are too many :S) when you have no edges oriented

I think I would prefer COLL. What do you think? Give your reasons :D

Are you asking whether COLL is better or WV? I would recommend doing COLL for most cases. It's faster. You only need to know the short WV cases, like L' U R U' R' L

The problem is I considere my problem is the recognising. I have to use one full set or not use it. I dont want to spend time trying to recognising an WV case that maybe I dont know...It is hard to explain hahah

That's the reason I am full COLL and full WV and still dont know which one is "better". I just want to read opinions :D

I am sub 15 right now using Coll/Epll, and reading through these forums I don't really see too much consensus on the next alg set to learn after VH. I was wondering what people think is the better step up from coll (realisticly, wont learn zbll in a day innit). I have memorized 40 ish zblls and all ttlls and I personally enjoy finishing with a zbll than a ttll, but dat alg count.

Do you mean objectively? I would say that you should probably just keep going with ZBLL or maybe try phasing and do ZZLL but I would say that COLL/EPLL is perfectly good to stick with.
I did mean subjectivley, because the obvious objective choice is to bite the bullet and memorize zbll, but I was asking subjectivly because I have read mixed opinions of each ll (phasing forces worse zblls, ct does not have as many skips as claimed, and wv i dont hear much about)

You could always try Anti-phasing, Anti-WV, to get better cases.

Here are some ideas:

Phasing + ZZLL - some of ZZLL will already be known from COLL

Learning ZBLLs for the COLL cases that are slower/longer

Some OLS cases - probably the ones that are the same length or slightly longer than inserting the pair normally

Ok, so I just finished learning Full CFOP last month and currently I average in the low 12s.
This is mainly a question for any sub 10/11 second solvers who are already past this stage.
Which subset should I start learning next, that you think would most improve my times? COLL maybe?
Obviously F2L is the most important step, and that will help my times more than anything, but I would like to start working on another subset as I continue to improve my look-ahead.
Thanks!

Also, how is your PB AO5 10.67 seconds if you average 12?

Well that is my best ever... so it should be a ways down from my average average.
Plus, by Global average I mean what times I can confidently say that I will meet.
Of Course there are some days when I am just "on" and average low 11s the whole time, and some when I am "off" and average high 12s.
In fact, here is the spreadsheet that has those 5 solves and the date if you want:
Cubing PBs
Just go to the 3x3 row and follow it the whole way to the right.
